This car is the Toyota's youngest baby.

It is really amazing from inside, spacious and has very comfortable riding.

Isolation from the outside world is very good, specially when you turn your cassette player on and relax while driving..

Handling is very good as well thanks to the Electrical Power Steering system.

Petrol consumption is one of its secrets, and the best feature in this car... according to my last calculation, each liter drives it for at least 14Km.. (mixed urban and extra urban).

Air conditioning is very good, and does not affect the car's performance, although it is just 1300 CC and 85HP...

Acceleration is very good also; the car reaches 100 Km/Hr in 13 or 14 sec.. (but you need to push it hard...)

All in all, the car is really amazing and very good value for money... I recommend it to any who search for a small family car. Excellent in city, and it's very good on high roads.

I live in North America; test drove a 1.5 liter '08 Yaris today. It is simply awesome. I'm buying a compact shortly here, and was set on the Hyundai Accent until today, when I drove the Yaris. The Toyota quality outshines the Accent fairly obviously, and it is a very nice car. Plenty of room inside, the controls are precise, the ride is great, the build quality is exactly the high quality that Toyota always provides, and of course, it's a Toyota 4 cylinder engine, which means you're being moved by the best engine in the world, other than maybe a Honda engine.

The car is surely brilliant; I agree. I'll be buying one soon. The one I test drove was an automatic, can't wait till the dealership gets a standard shift on the lot for me to test also. I'll be ordering one.

It's a good car.. but I really don't like the odometer in the middle dashboard...it's very annoying when driving.. Toyota has a good reputation in the Car industry... how come they're making cars that are complicated... make it simple you know... ODOMETER should Be on the Driver seat...

You know what? I thought the same thing about the odometer till I drove it. Personally, I like it. It keeps the dashboard lower, and with the short little hood, you can see more of the road, like a go-cart kind of driving experience. It's fun in my opinion. I'll be buying one very shortly if the money is right.

Roomy, quiet, can't beat the gas mileage and the price.

I own a 08 Yaris, 5spd manual, and simply love this car. I have a rattle in the dash that needs attention, the dealer will fix that obviously under warranty. I did a lot of research on this car before buying, and it has the best fuel mileage in its class but believe it or not, it wasnt recommended as a best-buy by consumers-reports due to poor result in the side impact crash test. At $1.25 per litre, we are still able to fill the tank for under $45. In the city we're getting over 600 kms to a tank!! My xterra on the other hand is another story.

There is no way I would buy a car with the odometer in the middle. To drive with my wife checking my speed is an impossibility! C'mon, the designer was a woman or just married! :-)

Drove my wife's Hyundai Accent & got 45MPG. The Yaris may get better MPG, but the interior shoulder width is 1 to 3 inches less than Accent. Both have the same exterior width. With the backseats up, Accent's cargo room is 60% more than Yaris. I thought the Accent had a nicer interior, more added standard features (airbags, armrest, mudflaps, trip odometers, 8-way adjustable seat, tach), looks better, is cheaper (one dealer sold Accent for $7800), & has a better warranty with free oil changes. Wife's Accent functions 100% with no squeaks, creaks, or rattles.

One of the reasons the speedometer is in the middle is to cut cost. This way they don't have to move the dials to the right when they sell it in certain countries like England.
