Water in body in rear driver side.
Intermittent tach/odometer.
Difficult to reach belts to replace them.
I have had this car for two months and absolutely love it. It is gorgeous, my dream car. I can live with the little quirks. It drives beautifully, even at 170k miles.
Yesterday the car started overheating intermittently. One final time we had to pull over to let it cool down, and it won't restart. The only things working were the power windows and the cell phone charger in the lighter outlet.
My boyfriend is working on it and replaced a bad fuse, so we got the top to go up, but the fuse keeps blowing every time we try to start the car. His guess is that some insulation melted that is causing a short. He also found when he removed the thermostat cover that the thermostat was missing.
If I could find the previous owner, I would give him a piece of my mind! He told me that he had replaced the thermostat. LIES! My boyfriend is thinking that the reason the car overheated in the first place is that the water pump went bad. Any advice is greatly appreciated. HELP!
Your boyfriend may be right, but at 170 000 miles a faulty water pump should be no surprise. The missing thermostat would have upset myself as well.
