This is a review for the SXT model, the SE base model has far fewer standard feature and less available options.
I'm very glad, actually excited that you like this car. I was reading some of the "Professional" reviews that of course, praise the imports while not giving this car enough credit. I've been looking at buying either the Avenger or Sebring. I drove one of each (both base models) and then drove some of the imports (Altima, Sonata, Camry. The only one that I liked was the Sonata. However, neither of the three seemed to be as "bang for the buck" as the Avenger/Sebring. Im looking forward to buying my own:-)
Chrysler builds some extremely good cars, and the Avenger is one of them. My past Dodges have been very reliable and well built cars.
The resale value of the Dodge will not be quite as good as some others, but if you keep the car for a long time you will probably save the difference in having less repair costs.
In well over 200,000 miles, all my last Dodge required was one heater hose, 2 brake jobs, and 2 timing belts. When sold it used no oil, never had had freon added to the A/C and ran as good as the day it was bought.
I just test drove a 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT today, and I fell in love. You do get so much bang for your buck and it was actually pretty quick with its get up and go style. It had plenty of room, style, and features for only about $23,000. I was leaning towards the Ford Fusion before I got a load of this car, but now I am excited about the Avenger.
I'm so excited that you like this car. I was looking for reviews on this car to see what other people thought of it and it seems a lot of people, including you, really like this car. I can't wait to get one of my own!
Actually there is no 2007 Dodge Avengers. They came out in late 2007 as a 2008 model.
Anyways, I also own a 2008 Dodge Avenger SE and I disagree with all those professional reviews as well. The 2.4L engine has very good power, and yes it is very fuel efficient also.
The ride quality is superb. You don't feel or hear the bumps in the pavement and the ride is quite quiet. I love the exterior styling as well.
There was a few recalls, but none major, and they were all handled by the dealer for no charge.
