First let me just say that when I first bought this van, it needed a major repair on the engine components, along with a timing chain and belt!!!
The ignition switch and ignition lock needed to be replaced, and it also needing new keys right after the first big repair!!!
The heater hose popped off, leaking antifreeze, and caused the van to overheat!!!
All doors would not open from the inside!!!
Washer fluid leaked out of the reservoir!!!
Engine leaked oil so bad that I had to put in 2 quarts of oil a day!!!
This van is a piece of crap hell hole!!!
Does GM get you from point A to B???!!!
However GM is known for powerful engines, and GM is also known for horrible brakes!!!
It has taken you TEN years to respond about a vehicle that is TWENTY years old! I just bought at 1988 Safari yesterday (May 28, 2008). I will keep everyone posted on how it goes...
Yah, can see how you would be disappointed when you got this, considering you had a Dodge Aspen before. Sounds like the Safari was already in bad shape when you bought it, but... you still bought it.
Never heard of a vehicle with both a timing chain and a timing belt before, usually they just have one or the other.
