The only thing that went wrong with the car was on a cross country trip from California to Iowa. In Colorado the throttle positioning sensor went out (which means that I completely lost all throttle control, even idle). I contacted the local Nissan Dealership, who sent a tow truck immediately. Nissan paid for my hotel, gave meal voutures, were kind and courteous, and had my car fixed the next day. The part turned out to be a common problem for all of Nissan's 2.5L 4cyl engine.
The car is absolutely awsome!!! There is just not enough time to explain all of the cool things about the car. I got mine from the dealership with 4 piston caliper Brembo brakes, Nismo intake, and Nismo exhaust. the brakes perform better than anything that I had ever felt before, with absolutely ZERO fade. The sound of the engine, performance, reliability, torque, handling, and looks of the car; make it the absolutely best choice hands down. Most front wheel drive cars will understeer if you push them to close to the limits, but The Sentra SER-spec V has such a good suspension that it will actually start to oversteer when pushed to the limits. Which is a lot easier to recover from than understeer.
You said the Throttle Positioning Sensor went out, but apologized as if this was your fault: "The part turned out to be a common problem for all of Nissan's 2.5L 4cyl engine".
You know full well that if this had been a Chevy Cobalt or Ford Focus, you would have been cursing the very earth from which the base components had been mined, threatening the dealer's firstborn and swearing you would never buy another American car.
The Nissan 2.5 has a lot of problems, far more than the Chevy's 2.2 or the Ford's 2.3, yet we Americans keep saying American brands stink. Loose throttle butterflies, oil burning, improper ring sealing, these are just a few of this motor's faults... and it's thirsty, too! 29 mpg highway from a 4 cyl is not acceptable when gas is so high. The absolute best I ever got with mine under optimal conditions using the cruise on level highway was 36. I normally averaged 23 in everyday usage.
I had a 2006 Sentra Spec V, and found the power to be adequate, but the suspension wouldn't keep the rear end settled. Curves were NEVER a confident thing, as it always felt too loose and the body would tip over, and that I would spin if I pushed it a mite further.
The 6 speed transmission had bad syncronizers between 1st & 2nd and 5th & 6th but "it will get better as it wears in". It felt like I was rowing a wooden spoon in a bag of rocks.
Wake up folks, or we soon won't be able to buy an American branded car. If that happens, the vaunted Japanese reliability and dealer service will be a thing of the past, as the Japanese will change faces faster than you can blink.
I love my 06 Nissan Sentra Spec V SeR. I have had a few minor problems that the dealership gladly fixed in a timely manner.
I love how my car handles and how it fits my needs.
The only major problem is that when I have worn my 06 out, I will not be able to buy another just like it brand new.
"Wake up folks, or we soon won't be able to buy an American branded car."
Whats bad about that? I won't miss them, personally.

Sentras are manufactured in Mexico in case you didn't know. Over the last 10-15 years, many models from Nissan have been outsourced to the U.S. This too has been the case with Honda and Toyota. Honestly, I don't believe Americans can build as car as well as the Japanese. That's just from me and my experiences.
I bought a 2006 Nissan Sentra SeR Spec V brand new. I love my car first of all. I've gone through a few motor mounts and 1 transmission mount. The tranny mount I have on there now is actually worn as well.
My exhaust pipe broke completely at the resonator, and the tires were awful, but those are mostly minor problems.
There's just one thing I can't figure out; my rear suspension squeaks over speed bumps, and up and down driveways.
I have mods now, most of the stuff I didn't like have already been changed, but I haven't bought aftermarket spings and shocks yet. I'm thinking the suspension is just cheap.
Overall, I'd still drive it over a Honda any day.
