"Buy this car at your own risk"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Since the same day that I bought this car I'm driving along and out of nowhere the car just dies and will not start for a while then it would start right up. This problem has happened to me a lot in the 2 years of owning it and nobody could find the problem.

The PCV valve had to be replaced twice. Once at 23k and again at 40k.

At approx 27,000 miles, the transmission started jerking very bad and got even worse within months and I had to replace it at 35k and still continued to do this.

My moonroof has been stuck closed twice, this problem requires major repair. Now I don't use it anymore, and on top of that it leaks when it rains.

No matter how many times I replace the wiper blades they still continue to scratch the windshield.

A lot of electrical issues.

At about 50,000 miles the engine started making a really loud knocking noise and has no power. I had it to the dealer and they said that the heads were leaking water and the engine and the engine had to be replaced costing around $3000.

General comments?

This is my first and will be my last Ford.

I bought this as a family car because my Dodge Stratus was starting to go at 175,000 and before that all the car needed was just regualar maintenance because I took care of it. I also took really good care of this car but it barely made it to 50,000.

I was not happy with this car. The only positive thing I can say about this car is that the seats are very comfortable and would make traveling enjoyable if this car ran better. At the days it was running good it gave me really good gas mileage, got about 30mpg highway.

For the price it was worth it would be a great car but sorry to say its not and I read other reviews and there are also many other people that had these problems with the 3.0 motor. the engine has no power at low speeds but wakes up when going faster. Overall this is a throw away car, and Ford does not have any concerns about their customers and that their dealership services are terrible. When I had the car at the dealer last week and I asked if there was anything they were doing to prevent this from happening to future customers. This mechanic just turns around giving me a dirty look with an attitude and says to me "Unlike you there are smarter people out there who buy extended warranties. I can't believe he said that. I just walked next door to the Dodge dealer and just bought a brand new Dodge Avenger. The people over at Dodge were even nice enough to give me what I owed on the Taurus that doesn't run towards my new car. This car also comes with a lifetime warranty. So who is the smartest person now??!!! I could not keep affording to put safety for my loving family on a Taurus.

This is a badly made car from a badly manufacturer then being sold by badly dealerships. Please be smart and don't buy this car.

Actually people VERY rarely have any problems with the 3.0 V6.

May I suggest you find a Ford or Mercury shop with a better service dept.
