What things have gone wrong with the car?

Blown head gasket (49,000 miles).

Cracked cylinder head (49,000 miles).

Cracked cylinder block (49,000 miles).

A/C compressor leaks (42,000 miles).

Paint chipping (51,000 miles).

Gas gauge failed (25,000 miles).

General comments?

Very noisy car.

Frame-less windows let in rain and wind noise.

Lots of headroom for tall people.

I have had the same problems with my 96 Neon.

O2 sensor lights keeps on coming on (check engine soon) at 60,000 miles.

Paint chipping on the back trunk at 61,000 miles.

Replaced all the brakes at 60,000 miles.

Broken head gasket at 60,000 miles.

Almost broken motor mount at 60,000 miles.

I had the same problems with my 1995 Neon.

-Blown head gasket 70,000 miles.

-A/C compressor went out 80,000 miles.

-New transmission 50,000 miles and 80,000 miles.

-Power steering went out due to the A/C compressor 80,000 miles.

Head gasket was common up to 1998 when they changed from a paper version to a paper metal version. There was an unadvertised warranty on these. See neons.org for more info.
