Transmission/transfer case replaced at around 46,000 miles, under warranty.
Leather worn on the side of the driver's seat from normal entry/exit.
Paint bubbling inside the driver's door.
Looks stunning and always gets attention! I stop to look every time I park it!!
AWD makes it an all-year sportscar if so desired!
Handles like a dream, and feels very stable at high speeds (>130).
Acceleration is BLAZING fast with AWD launches.
Interior looks/feels very nice, great quality!
Transmissions are known to have trouble.
Car is VERY addicting, more so than other sports cars I have owned. You've been warned!
My 1993 Stealth has everything a person could want in a car, except we are having trouble with the transmission.. It hangs in low gear. It will jerk real bad in reverse. In drive the transmission may work fine today and tomorrow it willhang in 1, 2 and I have to cut it off and start over. We have had it checked and can't find the problem. Will I need to replace the entire transmission? I have an automatic. I love the car.
Thanks...
Shirley.
Hi my name is Carmen and I own a 1991 Stealth RT.
I'm having problems with it and don't know where to turn. When I turn the car on it shuts off when I put it in drive. I'm not sure if it is the air flow meter or worse, can someone help me. I'm at joiseygirl818204@aol.com
Thank you.
For all the people that have problems with the auto transmissions, here is a simple solution, slap in a 5 speed or a 6 speed, it's easier to work on and mess with and well, it's simply a lot more dignified.
To: Shirley, I think the problem may be your timing belt. I have a friend that had the same trouble that you are having and he had the transmission replaced twice. Later, he found out that he only needed to change the timing belt.
Anyone who needs help go to www.3si.org and check out the forums. you can get any question answered by people who know what they are talking about. just thought id point you in that direction.
My name is Rachel and I am now driving a '93 black Dodge Stealth. My mom got it for me for my sixteenth birthday. It has American Racing Sniper rims on it so it looks awesome. I love it!
I have a 1993 twin turbo and it is the best car in the world. Small problems here and there, but as long as my manual transmission holds up I'm happy. People always look and comment, and the best thing is that in 20 years it'll be worth more than new with so few of them made.
I have a 1993 stelath twin turbo (pearl white). it is the best car in the world. little things go on it here and there and I'm playing with fire with my manual tranny, but its worth it. I love it! the looks I get, the style, the fact that no one else has one, etc. my view is that id rather spend $500 fixing a car that I truly love than $200 on one that I don't. I live in mississauga (toronto, canada) and in 20 years this car will for sure be worth a lot of money. just wait! to all the stealth owners, if you have any questions put them on this site. I have most of the answers.
I recently purchased a 1992 pearl white Dodge Stealth R/T. I absolutely love this car. I seem to be having a problem and I am not exactly sure what it is. In changing gears going from each gear it seems to drag a bit and then kicks in. Can you tell me what this possibly may be?
I am strongly considering purchasing my dream car; the beautiful Dodge Stealth is the only sports car I've ever wanted for nearly 15 years. If so, I will do so in a couple of days on Ebay. However, I would sincerely appreciate some feedback/advice from someone very familiar with their Stealth on a couple of matters that I should be apprised of, before taking on this car:
How many miles can I expect to get out of this car? (It's life?) What is the availability of parts, specifically transmission and electronic components? The one I want is in perfect shape in & out, but has 130,000 miles - is it wise? How long can I enjoy it?
Thank you for your feedback, soon.
Considering most of the cars are over 10 years old, you'd expect there to be some problems. The predicted reliablility of the Stealth/3000 GT is extremely high for that of a sports car. Especially if you're comparing it to a Camaro or Mustang.
I have a 1993 stealth RT and I am having trouble with my manual transmission. If anyone can help me find a web site at which I can buy a new or rebuilt transmission at a reasonable price. Thanks for your help, it means a lot to me.
I have a wild blue 1992 Stealth RT with 73,000 miles on it. Texas just instituted an annual vehicle emissions test which my car fails repeatedly. New plugs, a costly tune up, and similar alterations work to no avail. Does anyone have a similar problem or any insight on how to remedy this issue?
I'm a 2 year owner of a 1993 Stealth RT TT and love driving this vehicle. For would be buyers, I can provide a few comments:
Although this vehicle performs great in the winter (with proper tires) it does not like the cold. I'm in northern British Columbia and if it's below -25C it is difficult to start. Also, below -10 the manual transmission can be tough shifting until the car is really warmed up.
First and Second gears have been sticky on occasion even after the factory recall maintenance was done.
A few parts have broken, they do cost a little more, and if you're not in a major centre, you may have to wait a day or so for parts to arrive.
I wouldn't trade it for another vehicle though.
Frank.
I am having the same problem as the person who wrote this, but my stealth is a 93 Teal in color. If this person is around can you advise on what the problem was. I think it's in the fuel injectors or gas, but could be the ECU which was just replaced due to the stereo shop frying the old one.
Thanks
