1991 Mazda RX7 Turbo II Cabriolet from UK and Ireland - Comments

10th Nov 1998, 00:00

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Replaced clutch at 110,000 miles. Engine had been replaced at about 80,000.

Convertible roof has small tears at 'C-pillar' at the base and the top.

General comments?

Fast, comfortable and reliable. More than makes up for 20mpg (at speed, worse at low speeds!)

Dealer servicing is a joke - go to a specialist or DIY.

Not cheap, but RoTechniks in Graveley near Reading make it more fun and cheaper than a Cav, I mean Beamer.

All FC3 and FD3 Rx7s have a 1.3L rotary. The only larger was the 20B engine in the Cosmo, which has 3 654cc rotors, making 1962cc, just short of 2 liters. The LeMans-winning 4-rotor, which is a race-only engine, would be the only potential 2.6 liter Mazda rotary.

Hey there people. I see its been a while since anyone replied. I just wanted to say that my Mazda runs great, but has a problem with heat and burning oil, maybe I'm just driving too fast, ha ha. over all its cool besides the gas.

Yeh I recently got myself a rx7 turbo2 convertible auto, at low revs its pretty bad, but once the revs come up past 3000 it gives sizzling performance. although I'm sure if I make it manual and boost it up a little from standard 6psi I'm sure ill give wrx's a run for their money.

Disadvanatge: theres no space to put my 12inch subwoofer, convertible's have no rear seats, instead its occupied by the spare wheel and the sub doesn't sound good in the boot.
