"Great reliable American horsepower - go Chevy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Temperature sensor, easy fix.

T-tops leaked - expected.

Front brakes were always screwy, they're like that on my '86 Z28 too.

Transmission mount went, but again, same thing on my '86.

General comments?

Great car, with the 3.1L it went 200k miles and kept running great, never leaked oil or smoked! I'd buy one of these again in an instant with the 3.1, don't ever get a 2.8L.

The car had plenty of pep, turned quite a few heads and was great with the T-tops off on a hot summer day.

Never stranded me. Handled great.

Own a 1991 Camaro RS, and it is unbelievable how the body can still look so good and run good with 160K miles, chevy did a great job with the 3.1 Liter which puts out a nice little push on the road!!!

Camaros are great cars, but you need a V8 like a 305, 350, or 400. People who like 6 or 4 cylinders, that's wrong, sports cars should have big motors.

I agree, I had a 305 in my 1990 and it wasn't fast enough for me, but the 350 is nice and I think that you have to have a V8 to own a fast car.

I have not driven the 3.1L, but have a hard time trying to think that a engine with so little "Umph" can move a car as large as a Camaro very fast. But one thing is for sure, at least you aren't driving 4 cylinder!!!

You guys and your big motors.. One thing about big motors is that they are soooo heavy.. Why not make a really powerful... little motor? I got a 2.3 Ford with 300Hp.. I got a 3.8Ford with 230hp.. and my buddy has a blown 2.3 Quad 4 with the chip and it gets --650hp--... There are plenty of people out there making cars with big huge gas sucking V8's. Why not be part of the smarter group and put a little engine in there? Just imagine.. You blow the doors off of some guy's beefy chevy II with a 400 big block or a super b with a hemi.. And you pop the hood, and there sits this teeny lil 4 popper, all painted red with a powerdyne supercharger where the AC used to be.. Watch their cheeks turn red in embarrasment as they hand over their title..

I personally like how little it costs to build a 4 cylinder.

I just bought a 91 chevy camaro Z-28 convertable and I do mean its a sharp sharp car. No problems so far and the pick up is unreal and the looks are still coming. The old body style is the way to go here and when to top is down its unbelievable... every one looks at her!! red is the color to get!!

I think the 8-cylinder in my 1987 Z-29 is so sweet!! Every time I take off on a green light, I blow all the other driver off the road practically. If I were you, I would definitely get a 350 HP or higher. (In other words, power is life! For sure you should test drive and Camaro and see how great she handles. Go Chevy!!!

I have a 1991 camaro RS right now and I love it. it only has the 3.1 L and I'm working on getting a new engine (or building one... not sure yet). you can supercharge a 4 cylinder all you want, but if you do the same work to a 350 that you would put into that 4 banger, there is not competition. bigger = better.

As to the person who owns the z-29, I congratulate you on owning the rarest of the camaros. I never even knew a z-29 existed! and when we talk about 350, that would be the CUBIC INCHES of the engine's displacement in a water tank... not HP!!! I personally know that a 91 rs 191 ci (3.1L) can kepp right up with a 78 vette with a 350. it all depends on the compression ratio. the 78 vette has 185 hp not 350!!

I just bought a 1986 Camaro with a Pontiac Formula 350 Tuned Port Injection setup. I have no complaints about the car except for my $230 a month insurance bill, and I have a perfect driving record!

Commpression is not all that matters in a motor.

I have a 91 Camaro RS with a 305. I have to say the gas mileage totally sucks, but that's to be expected with a V8. While I love my car and never regret buying it, I wish I had never bought a Camaro with T-tops. Sure, they're fun on perfect sunny days, but mine leak air, water, and I dream of just a regular hardtop! As with the design of the car, 3rd Generation is the only way to go!

T-tops suck. Anybody know how to stop them from leaking? I think I've tried about everything!

I just bought a 92 Camaro RS with the 3.1L V6. I think it's great. I get real good gas mileage and the car has a lot of pep. The best part of the car is I only paid $1000 for it and there is nothing wrong with it. The thing also handles like a dream. Unfortunately, the car is bright red so it is sure to draw attention from the local law enforcement and there unforgiving radar guns.
