"Integra Type-Rs are the cure for the need for speed"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing is wrong with the car.

General comments?

This car is so fast you won't even see me comming!

I respect your car and all, but how much did you pay? Last time I checked, it was around $24,000. Your car competes with my stock $5000 1990 mustang 5.0. Try racing the new GT's which are the same price range, and MUCH faster.

Mustang? No way. The VTEC and 9000+rpm redline is way more fun. So what if it's faster. It can't handle like a Type-R and the Type-R has more top end power. Try taking an off ramp at 90 with a GT. The acceleration is sluggish on a GT, the Type-R is pedal responsive. Plus it's a Honda so it'll outlast any domestic.

I see that your last car was a 300zx. How would you compare the ITR with the zx? Which on is faster/more responsive? For a potential buyer of either a 300zx or an ITR, which would you recommend? I guess it's obvious which one looks better. =)

The 300zx is faster stock if you get the twin turbo, but they are expensive as hell to maintain and upgrade and heavy as hell. I've owned my 300zx tt for only 3 months and its cost me 3500 to maintain it just a crappy z I guesse, but even good ones are expensive. go witht he type are you will save yourself a lot of headache and time in the shop:)

I just wanted to point out this last guy that commented called the integra a "type are"...?

Haha, I had good laugh over that...

OK, the new GT's are NOT faster than the classic 5.0 Liter stangs.

New GTs are CRAP! A type R can accelerate just as fast, and theres only a slight differnece in the 1.4 mile. And once you get to that speed i'd feel a lot safer in an Acura then any piece of junk Ford.

New GT COBRA's are incredibly fast, eat the integra for lunch.

Too bad there isn't such thing as a "GT Cobra".

It's one or the other.

Well Even if it was a cobra that was a heck of a lot more than the integra plus the new gt's are absolute crap. My friends '91 z-28 camaro will run with one of those and guess what it's a stock 305 that cost hime 3 grand. The new gt's are runnin mid to low 15's and the integras are still doin 15.60's.

Comparing a type-r to a cobra is like comparing a ford taurus to a 355 maranello.

Makes no sense.

The only mention of a Cobra is by a guy who thought it was the same as the GT, no one is taking him seriously. Secondly to all you VTEC loving idiots this car came stock with 195 horse. A 1990 Mustang 5.0 225 horse, 2004 GT 260 horse, 2004 Cobra 390 horse. Thirdly fine me anyone who is comfortable having their engine running at 9000 all the time and I'll show you an engine that lasts no longer than its domestic cousin. Finally, read a car mag, the biggest knock about the high reving VTEC engines such as your car or the honda S2000 is the fact that at anything less than 9000 grand, they are gutless and keeping them at 9000 grand is a gear shifting pain in the ass. A mustang with real displacement and real torque will show power over a much wider RPM range. All these factors together means that the Mustang is faster. PERIOD. THAT IS IT. DONE.

P.S. Don't start with the down the modification route, yes with an extra 10 grand the Acura could have 400 horsepower. Who cares? for 6 grand, including car, I've got an american monster putting out 500. Custom (self) built 355 chevy small block, 11:1 compression etc.etc.

The Integra is a much better purchase than ANY ford car. The mustang may be faster, but it cannot handle at all. Not to mention that when the warranty on a ford expires, so does the car.

Well..it's pretty bad that an 4cyl. integra can even keep up with a 8cyl. mustang... so we gotta give him props. for that.. however you're ALL wrong.. buy a Supra like me and run 13.7 stock with good handling.. and it's a heavy car... so going 150 in it doesn't feel like it... mustangs sound good.. but for how large the engine is, it doesn't put out the power it should unless you supercharge it.. an integra with vtec is DEF. a good choice if you're on a tight budget. GSR's are around the quickest imports you can buy for under 10g's...but if you have the money to spend.. get a Supra... capable of WELL over 1000hp...and if you're on a tight budget.. an MkIII Supra will still run both a stang and an integra with a little modding.. Mustangs are meant to SOUND good and integras are meant to look good... Supras are meant to do that and more..:)

For the guy with the mustang I thought that you might want to read this, they compare the Integra Type R to the Mustang GT.

These are links to a site that has a article from a magazine.

I think people fail to realize that you can mod a stang or camaro to handle great. All you need is to put on some stiffer/shorter springs and some better shocks and you'll have a great corner carver on your hands. Add some LCAS/sub frames etc. and its even better. The type R is a great car, but its yesterday's news. Its been replaced and severely outclassed by the WRX (esp the STi).

On the other hand, big V8s will always be the weapons of choice for drag racing. They are stock already loaded with tonnes of torque (which is much more important than HP, and something 4 cyls lack). V8s are also very responsive to modding. You can get a stock Stang or Camaro up to 600 REAR wheel hp/torque before you even have to replace the cyl. heads or intake.
