Brakes, timing belt, brakes, tension rods, brakes, water pump, brakes.
A definite mistake. Do not be seduced by its beauty.
I too, have a 1997 Chyrsler Sebring Convertible - Brakes and rotors have to be replaced OFTEN... Typical Brake/Rotor job costs out of pocket $700. Big expense that occurs about once a year or 30,000 miles.
If you put 30,000 miles on a convertible in a year, then you can't afford a convertible. Get a regular car and quit whining about water leaks. ALL convertibles leak, eventually, whether they are Chryslers or BMW's. Convertibles are specialty vehicles, meant to be kept in the garage and driven on sunny days for fun. No fabric on earth will last very long if it is exposed to the elements, day after day after day, hot and cold, etc.
It's not the top that leaks, it is everywhere else.

1997 jxi owner CAR FILLS UP WITH WATER.
The top is in great shape. I'm the second owner of the car the first owner died probably form the grief this car causes. The car has been back and forth to the dealer so many times I gave up. Front brakes make noise everything is new. ABS light always comes on. This car should have been factory equipped with a bilge pump or gold fish.
I am the second owner of a 1997 Crysler Sebring Convertible which has 100120 miles and runs quite well. My problem are the front brakes squeel in reverse first thing in the morning and the rear brakes lock up every so often. My mechanic has replaced the front pads twice to no avail. Any ideas? ejoanlee@msn.com.
