Warped brakes (probably due to excessive braking!). Hand brake can sieze on after washing the car and leaving it parked up for a while (best to leave in gear without the hand brake on). That's it!
The best CRX Honda made (2+2 seater VTEC). Loads better and more practical than the 2 seater model they replaced it with.
Probably the most powerful normally aspirated 1.6 engine available with 150bhp and capable of revving to 8,500rpm without any damage whatsoever. I've taken it to 140mph and a friend took his to 145mph and was still going, not bad for 1.6! 0-60 in less than 7.5 seconds.
Very comfortable over long periods of driving (probably because I'm fairly short).
Tricky at speed in the wet, handling perhaps a little vague, the enjoyment and smile factor from the engine noise and revvs easily makes up for it.
Lovely looking car and quite rare.
Why did Honda stop producing such an amazing car?
Got to agree the noise the wee car makes when you boot it just makes me grin.
Another VTECH owner.
Vtech is a phone damnit.
VTEC not VTECH.
I've bought one a couple of years ago and I must confess i'm pretty amazed with it!! It is a true driver's car, very rewarding, cheap to run with an enormous aftermarket parts range. Only problem I had with it was the O2 sensors located in the exhaust manifold. I've fitted a stainless and the sensors keep on breaking! Otherwise, everything is cool! With replacement ECU, Koni's and Ground Control springs it handles like a dream!!! Beware of front tire wear.

Yeah true mates.
I bought a CRX VTEC some months ago from the year 93.
It realy rules, I had a Porsche 993 2 years ago, and I must say that the CRX VTEC is the first car who gives me the same feeling as the Porsche!!!
It has the same raodstability, low on th eground, powerfull engine, and the seats are cool to, so yes it gives you a great feeling riding it, also a desire to go drive it.
And above all the VTEC has all options you could wish for.
So yes the VTEC has it all...
Hi
i don't own one of these cars, but I was a passenger in one, and I've got to say these cars areamazin, the handleing of them the looks and the sound are great, my mate had a full s/s exhausts fitted and once it hit the Vtec it roared and sounded beautiful.
I will definetly buy one of these cars at some point.
"Feel" is not about absolute numbers like power, torque and 0-60, it's about how a car talks to you, how it makes you feel, how involving it is. The CRX is a driving tool, like the 911.

I have read a few posts on this site comparing hondas to Porsches. A Honda is not a porsche, and never will be. However, they have similar overall characteristics, and I think that this is why you see the comparison. I don't think that anyone on this site actually believes that a crx SIR is equal to a porshce of any kind. But these days, you can get one used for under $5000, and the other for well over $50,000. Get the point?
Hello.
I read all your previous comments because I want to buy a CRX.
My question is, which is the one with VTEC and 160 horse power?
Somebody said that the 1992 year CRX is 2+2 seated than the previous that was only with a small bench behind.
Actually. I have only seen CRX's with small bench behind.
Can somebody help?
Thanks in advance,
c.
Hi. I see where your all coming from about the mk2s being more practical and a great all round car, but the 2+2 Vti that I've recently purchased is awesome! It's pushing out 166bhp in standard form. It revs to 8,300rpm and handles pretty goo, even with standard suspension and alloys. A friend of mine has one with the b18 enigne fitted, and that is pumping out 207bhp at the wheels! They are an all round awesome car no matter which year you buy.

CRX V PORSCHE...
Pound for pound the CRX wins hands down...
I had a 944s in red loved it... but whilst reading a book on the 944 I got to the final pages...
It said, that if you find Porsche ownership a little trying (parts prices fuel etc etc) there's another little gem out there that is very similar... HONDAS 1988 CRX... Nuff said- au revior Porche (good car, but expensive to run etc) Hello CRX!
I owned a Honda Crx 1992 two years ago and had to sell it due to baby, I have pined for it ever since. I've never owned a car that gave me such pleasure to drive. It used to out perform 2.0l and I had 140mph out of it, which I thought was unreal until I read this site. I liked the little beast so much because they are fairly rare cars and it sounded awsome with a 3.5 inch straight through exhaust on it.
I currently live in New Zealand, I own a 1989 Honda CRX SIR.
Black 5 speed manual, I have done some minor mods to the car, ECU upgrade, full extractor exhaust and pod filter. I have a rather wealth friend who owns a 1999 Porsche Boxster. he paid $45k for his I paid $4500. believe it or not my car out performs his car in the both the handling and acceleration department. Very happy with my Vtec YO!

I'm Jexter - another vtec lover from NZ
I have owned 92 crx vtec for just over a year now.
Fully body kit, custom euro red painted, some nice decals, s/s mufflers.
One thing I love about this car is that it runs very steady on the road when it goes faster. I hit 180km/hr and it still goes faster (Chip removed) & steady below the gauge.
Love this car. wondering why honda is not producing this model anymore. is it to keep this car rare? thanks honda.
