Have had two clutches, a new transmission put in so far. Have had many annoying problems such as the driver-side window not rolling up all the way or even roll down at all (very annoying where in NYC, every road seems to be a toll). Very poor electrics - radio always going dead, headlights that magically turn off at night and so on. It does have 15,000 hard-earned miles driving in Manhattan as a commercial vehicle, however.
This truck is exactly what it is: a truck. Even with the more "luxurious" redesign in 1997, it rides, handles, and acts like a truck.
It is, however, very poorly made (not just this Jeep, but many other people I know who have Cherokees and Grands also have similar problems), and the dealers, at least in the States, apathetic.
I like being able being up high and looking down upon the lunatic cab-drivers below, but my next vehiclel is definitely going to be Japanese (Mitsubishi Montero Sport).
I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler Rio Grande. Have had it for one year. Only major problem was a flat tire when I ran over a nail.

I have had my 97 for almost five years now & have done nothing but regular maintenance on it. The truck is great & I will definitely buy another one.
I have put 50,000 miles on my 1995 Wrangler with no problems. I have tested its 4x4 abilities numerous times and it is one tough truck. I plan to always keep this vehicle as an extra when I get another car. This is due to its reliability and fun factor!
I have a 95 Jeep Wrangler. I work in NYC and drive from Jersey every day. I have 86,300 miles on it and even with all the pot-holes in NYC and over 5 years driving in NYC, I only remember three problems. One flat tire, my rear view mirror fell off once and yesterday my cigarette lighter broke.
Jeep is the best vehicle I ever owned. I will never get rid of it, or buy anything else.
BTW, I also own a 1999 Limited (selling right now) and a 2002 Overlander.
I have a 95 Wrangler Rio Grande and I have to say I'm not impressed... although it has never failed me as far as 4WD goes, the gears grind, I had to replace my headlight switch because my headlights had a mind of their own, the parking brake had a recall for kicking off and letting the vehicle roll... and yes...i did expirience it first hand. The only good thing about the steering box is it has featherlight steering... but has too much play in it. I have a soft top, but water doesn't leak thru there, it leaks thru the dash...
And yatta yatta yatta.
Bye.
