Paint. It's flaking very bad. Looks terrible. 105,000 miles head cracked. New alt. runs fine.
GMC seems to have a problem with their paint lasting more than 5 years. The paint separates from the primer.
Actually the paint does not separate from the primer. GM had the wonderful idea to try a new kind of paint in the mid 80s. IT was a one coat, no primer UV resistant paint. They used it from 85 up until 92. This style of painting was only in certain paint factories and doesn't apply to all GM vehicles. Just thought you might wanted to know.
