1994 Hyundai Scoupe GT-i Turbo from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Release for the hatch didn't work, fixed under warranty. Mirror corrosion (under warranty).

General comments?

Great performance, it out raced alot more powerful cars although it was only 115bhp, but since it was so light it was like a rocket, 0-60 in 8 secs. It beat the Nissan Sunny Gti (145bhp), and other cars that were up to 180 bhp. A little too much road noise, but after all it is really just a toy (a pretty cheap one too!!) and you can upgrade it to 165bhp, and the 0-60 drops to 5.9 secs with a computer chip.

Hi I read your article and was wondering how you got the car up to 165hp. On my 1993 Hyundai Scoupe Turbo I changed the intake (HKS filter) and I changed the exhaust (2.5" catback with a Flowmaster muffler), that change gave me a little more hp. But I want to know how to make it faster. Please email me at Bori72@aol.com

If anyone wants to know how to get a lot more bhp from their Scoupe turbo just email me at daz@fallwood.freeserve.co.uk. I'm not trying to sell you anything, just share my findings with other Scoupe owners.

In the Superchips web-pages, upgrade the Hyundai Scoupe turbo with Eeprom plus high boost from 8-9 psi stock to 14 psi, plus intake air cool induction with result over 150 HP... 0-100 in less 6.9 sec.

I also have a '93 S-coupe Turbo and I am looking to stick a Garret t3 turbo on it. But I am having trouble finding a turbo manifold to fit it. If anyone has any clues as to where I could find one to work, please e-mail me at: DRMANGL303@AOL.COM

Thank you.

I have loved mine but got whooped by a sunny GTI (a rare meeting as I have only ever met the one) and have since found 3 old magazine tests on Sunny GTI's that tested 0-60 in 6.8 Secs!...

Maybe some models have blocks of wood under the accelerator pedal but not the one I raced : (

Hi! I have a hiunday scoupe turbo too. It's engine is 1.5L sohc that reach 230 bhp in the "dyno". You need money to make your scoupe reach this HP. In it's engine have instaled a T3/TO4 hybrid turbine at 21psi using original pistons and no modification to the head block. Also it have a MSD (multiple spark discharger),a fuel pressure regulator, a ram air conected the turbine intake, a racing fuel pump, Grand National injectors, a HKS valve, an intercooler, a turbonetics delta gate, header, an elantra flow meter and an APEX'i computer to make settings. In the transmission have instaled a racing clutch. With 17" tires (13.5 sec. in a 1/4 mile) and with slick tires (12.4 sec. in a 1/4 mile).

Hi I am thinking of buying an scoupe turbo!

With a front mounted intercooler, a new exhaust from the tubine and back with a diameter of 55mm-60mm, a t2 or t2.5 turbine and a new program chip witch sends the preasure to 1-1.2bar the car surely reaches 210bhp.If anyone has photos of 1.5litre turbo engine or diagrams of this motor please email me at salabren@yahoo.gr.

Hi, I have a 1994 Scoupe GT too, but mine's totally standard. I was wondering if someone can send me an e-mail giving me tips so it can go faster, but not spending too much money. I don't want to manipulate the engine too much.

I can say that the Honda Civic VTEC doesn't compare with my Scoupe!

Please E-mail me to obi_wan_ramos@hotmail.com

my name is Daniel. Thanks!
