Ignition module replaced, lower ball joints replaced, UV joints replaced, o/haul carby, new radiator.
In 12 months the car has done 40,000km, so I think for a car that is 17 years old it is very good.
Top speed of the car is 145km/h thanks to the nifty 5 speed. But at just 60kw you can't expect much.
I had a 1984 TRX and with 4 people in it, it did 170km/h on the freeway.
Here's a tip if you own a TRX and want to put on a smoke show - fit a set of 14's, I borrowed a set off a Sigma (all they're good for) and blew them within the first 5 minutes. Although give it too much and the diff will snap. INTO PIECES. So if you can afford it get the Series 3 diff (including housing). This can be sourced at the wreckers for as little as $150.
I own a 83 s2 TRX, with only 134k on the clock and this thing runs like the day it was made with out missing a beat. The only thing I could say is it fells underpowered with a full load of people.
In the drag stakes it has beaten 1988 honda integra, hyundi x-cel sports (90's something), lt 2l celica rwd and one of the fwd with the pop up lights... the list has yet to be compleated.
It is easy to find on of these cars for under $2000 and is well worth the money, with 4wdisc brakes and great handeling it can pull out of many stickey situations. Find a s2 that hasn't been round the clock thousands of times and if you have basic maintenance skills it will be smooth sailing.
A cheap good looking car with great engine swap potential.
