I put it through a fence, but no fault of Nissan.
For a small engine it's fast and quick off the mark. Handles like expected of a sports model Nissan i.e. brilliant. Top speed I've done is 127mph with a bit more in it, the majority of miles I cover are at 110mph+ and I've had no problems.
Mine has the GTi brakes, fast road pads, Nismo front bumper, Evo 6 type bonnet vent, DTM splitter, also league tantrum alloys & HKS air filter. I fitted an exhaust heat shield, Momo harness pads and leather gear gaitor, CT racing aluminium gear knob and Sparco pedals, also motorsport style mats and colour_co elect. M3 type wing mirrors.
Since this review I've fitted nissan 200sx touring leather seats, white dials, and dimpled & 10 grooved F. disc,EBC greenstuff brake pads, sunny gti_R spioler, almera gti rear skirt and aided performance with -35mm spax springs and sparco F. strut brace, K&N induction kith with custom twin cold air feeds, s/steel cat back Scorpion performance mandrel bent exhaust, FSE power boost valve and braided s/steel brake pipes all round. Also fitted falken 502 tyres. cars now got 130BHP approx. The almera SRi is great underestimated hot hatch and only gp.7 insurance! Buy 1.
Changed to k&n 57 because I heard expensive HKS only filters huge rocks and is vulnerable to rain, I also fitted HKS iridium spark plugs. I'm now considering buying T_bar 100nx 1.6 I twin cam 16v and tuning it simillarly featuring quad exiting 3.5ich s/steel custom mandrel bent exhaust. black leather retrim it then spray jet black fit impreza 22B style spioler and 17x7.5 split rim 5 spokes with yoko tyres. What do you think?
Nice one mate, how much is all this setting you back.
And whats the approx 0-60. Will it beat my Civic VTi...7.0sec.

Hi I mate,,, my nissan primera egt,,,, left an a civic top end out of his site.
My only question...Why?? Why have you added all that stuff.. on an Almera!?
I have a Nissan Almera SLX 1998 which has the exact same engine etc and is in the same state of tune as the SRi. It is a family hatchback and no amount of sticking on bits of go faster hardware will change that. I'd be surprised if with that lot on it goes any faster than the standard 112mph (though I admit the speedo will show 120 if you thrash it, but how accurate is that?
Sure, the Almera is an entertaining and quite sporty ride, but no way is it the hot hatch you seem to suggest - By the way if the manufacturers claims for the percentage increases in performance for each of the boy racer toys you have attached were true, your car would manage a 0-60 time of about 3.6 seconds (instead of the real, rather leisurely 10 seconds) and a top speed of 190 (instead of 107) Don't get me wrong - I think the Almera is a good car- reliability second to none and performance okay for the time, and really low insurance, but get real.
Cost of car 4000 pounds.
Cost of accessories 5000 pounds.
Could have bought something special for that:
like:
BMW 850i
Mondeo 220
Triumph Stag
TVR
Merc S-Class
BMW750
BMW M3
KIA Pride
Jaguar XJ8
10 Reliant Robins.

Is this guy's name Kevin, his misses must be a Tracy.
Muppet.
I just bought an Almera, I also just crashed an Almera... I am currently fixing an Almera and would like to purchase some strut braces, where would I get them from?
What a load of rubbish some people speak. I have an almera sri that I've tuned myself. Its pulls very well through all the gears and the lightened flywheel has got the 0-60 down to 8.3 seconds.

You're much better off getting the GTi model (143 fly bhp) as standard, with a standard 0-60 of 7.9 and 0-100 of 23 seconds.
I've mildly tuned my GTi and it is producing 134 hp at the wheels (158 fly bhp) and it performs noticeably better than standard. 15.6 second 1/4 mile, 0-60 in 7.4, 0-100 in 18 seconds and an indicated top speed of 142 (closer to 135 in real life). Still enough to embarrass newer and more expensive machines, yet is fairly cheap and very reliable!
