Not a thing. A very reliable car.
Better cup holders would be ideal, but overall this is a great van. Great gas mileage... can go coast to coast in 2 1/2 fill-ups.
I have a question about the Pontiac Montana. We are in the process of buying a 1999 with 62,000 miles on it. Would you recommend buying the extended warrenty? It covers for 2 years and is around $1600. Please reply ASAP. We will be picking the van up next week!
Thank you.
Two things: MPG and Extended Warranties.
2 1/2 trips to the gas station for about 2500 miles coast to coast is not possible. Redo the math.
Extended warranty seems pretty high @ $1600. Check warrantybynet.com.
I just bought 99 Montana with 36K. Seems pretty good right now. I'll get the warranty, just for peace of mind.
Additional warranty is definitely a must. We have a 2000 Pontiac Montana and have saved over $4000.00 for all the costly engine and transmission repairs. My advice go out and, but a Lemon Aid Guide before you buy, I wish we had. All the GM mini vans are known for intake manifold gasket leaks, transmission problems and electrical failures. Our warranty is allmost done and we are selling it soon and our next van will be a Japanese import.
Our 2000 montana is a lemon. we have owned it for two years and it as been nothing short of a nightmare. head gasket, transmission, and I never knew there was so many lights in the dash of a vehicle. my advice to anyone looking to buy one, don't!
I regretfully bought a 2000 pontiac montana. So far replaced intake manifold gaskets which were leaking. A few thousand miles later had to replace engine (Blew up).Another couple thousand miles replaced transmission. Just got it back and am hoping somebody steels it.I'm afraid to go far because something is bound to happen to it. Gm knows about all these problems with the 3.4 engine and the thousands of bad transmissions, but they say it is not a safety issue. After 60000 miles beware.

We have a 2001 Montana with 82,000 miles. The A/C does not work, and the heater cuts out at bad times. So far the engine and transmission seem OK, but I don't trust it. It would be a good vehicle if not for these problems. Drives nice, gets good gas mileage, and has nice features. I would NOT buy another one.
We have a 2000. The first couple of months it wasn't so bad until the water leaks from the roof, sticking windows, rear brake leak, change oil light stays on even after changing oil, by the time we put 50k on it. front end work, front wipers stays up, rear wiper fell off. Half of the dash lights goes on and off, its the only van that I know when low gas comes on you can put in two gallons and then it reads full tank (good thing the mileage trip works, so we go by that instead of the gas gauge. The best is that my wife got stuck with the van one morning a block away from where we bought it from and won't touch it because it now has 103,000 miles on it. they don't work on any thing that has over 100k. I took it to a couple of non dealers and was told head gasket needs to be replaced and even was tolded for about the same price it would be better to just change the engine. Also I forgot about the rear latch handle broke too as the same for the cup holders. so for the past 8k miles we just top off the water coolant every 1k and use this van only for short drives. if this van was working right it would be a great van, but, since we got it there always something going wrong with it and the dealer can't never see the same problem or maybe they didn't want to see it oh yeah the one in Wantagh NY.
