1997 Plymouth Voyager from North America - Comments

"A Plymouth failure - What happened??"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Tensioner arm broke at 20,000 included replacing the belts since they were destroyed (belts not under warranty even if another bad part destroyed them - $150).

Wipers turn on intermittently.

Oil leak, took it to the dealer 3 times before it was fixed.

Engine cooling fans relay stuck at 50,00 miles ($130 repair).

And more things, but I can go on forever...

General comments?

Since we have the 4 cylinder version it is super slow up even small gradients.

It is very roomy, but I would go with a different van if I went with a 6 cylinder.

I have a 96 Plymouth, and yes the wipers turn on intermittently. The transmission seems to be going as well. I would not buy another van from this company.

When will Plymouth finally admit that the transmissions are faulty and make a recall. I have a 1997 Grand Voyager and it is on it's third transmission. Other people that I know that have one of these pieces of junk are also on thier second or third transmission.

I agree, my Plymouth voyager is a 97 and the worst vehicle I've ever owned. The airbag light is on, my cruise no longer works, my steering wheel clicks, I have an leak oil, but no one can find the leak, and I think my transmission is going bad. I definitly will never purchase another vehicle from them again, and will advise others to steer clear also.

I own a 1997 Grand Voyager the horn doesn't work, air bag light is on, cruise control inoperative, 2 serpentine belts replaced less than 3 months, air conditioned repaired with both evaporators, and the only recall notice receive is for the fuel lines.

97 voyager, Air bag light, no cruise, no horn, is a recall. Hope this helps I had to search forever to find out this. Got it fixed in 15 minutes at dealer no charge. I had 120,000 plus miles at the time. Don't get stuck with the bill like I almost did. I still love my Voyager.

My 1997 Plymouth Voyager also had many repairs, but the one that sends it over the top is that both of the airbags deployed from a bump to the undercarriage from a rock that kicked up on a camp road. They didn't deploy for two minutes after the rock hit. Rocks kick up like that on this road on a weekly basis for the last six years, but this must have hit the right spot. Not repairable. Don't take airbags lightly. They are to be feared!

I have 138000+ miles on my voyager and had no problems until now. the "service engine soon" light comes on. has anyone run into this problem, if so please let me know and how they fixed it. the dealer has had it 3 times now. I like this van and will buy another mini van.

97 Voyager-My service light has come on twice, both times it was an oxygen sensor. My horn & cruise doesn't work and the airbag light has been on for a month. I'm glad to hear it's a recall, thanks. I also need to replace the a/c compressor.

I have a 1999 Plymouth Voyager and the airbag light is on, the cruise control and horn does not work either. I have been told by my local dealer this is the clock spring, but because it is a 1999 it is not covered in the recall. If you are having the same thing please contact the Plymouth/Dodge recall department @ 1-800-853-1403 and report it you will need to give them you VIN#. They say they are researching, but they will not repair my vehicle without me paying nearly $400.
