1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe from North America - Comments

"Hell of a car!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Brakes.

Graphic equalizer.

Torque converter.

General comments?

This is the fastest car I've ever owned. I loved it. When the torque converter started going out, it would not shift into overdrive and would slip until the RPM's were high enough to take off again.

Parts were very expensive and hard to find. Wouldn't recommend this car as a daily driver.

One time on an interstate highway, I had the speedometer pegged out to the trip meter, the turbo charger pushing 15 psi and the tach at the red line. Estimated speed by my local state trooper, 145 mph. Now that's not bad for a 4 cylinder.

I like the story about how you tired to blow the car at 145 mph. Its just not nice to treat such a great car like that.

Now..mine only goes until 90-100 mph then it stops.. I don't know how to make it go faster...
