The inside vinyl has slightly warped, on the front console.
There's air noise that comes from the passenger side, could be the rubber isn't set right, or is bad.
The heater doesn't put out as much as other car's I've had.
The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips.
The manufacturer is already discontinuing parts for the car, but I've been lucky shopping at near by Hyundai specific junk yards.
Got in a 5mph accident that did $1400 in damage, would hate to think what could happen to me at higher speeds.
With the few faults this car has, and at the incredible price I bought it for, I still have to say that I am completely happy in owning the Scoupe, and plan to own it for quite some time longer.
Great gas mileage, and great performance, for what it is (that's if you don't have more than two people in the car), and this car has been exceptional in reliability.
You can also easily jazz up the Scoupe with window tint, better stereo, performance wheels (a real plus), and other minor mechanical things to pep it up even more.
Had such a good experience with the Scoupe, am looking at buying another Hyundai (probably the Sante Fe) this summer.
Well... your $1,400 repair for your 5 mph impact was a rip-off... I was involved in a 10-13 MPH impact and it cost me only $485... next time you want some repair done to your car... shop around for prices... a little advice... most parts on the car can be replaced by yourself, buy a Chilton repair manual # 32102 for only $15.00 and you can save tons of dollars on labor charges. I have saved over $2,700 since I bought the Chilton repair manual, started working on my own time. If you have the time I suggest you take his route.
I was the owner of a 1995 Hyundai Scoupe. It was my first car and I bought it after my high school graduation. Until January of 1997, it had a lot of things go wrong with it. On January 18, 1997 I was hit head-on by a drunk driver in my Scoupe. The crash was between 55 and 60 MPH for my car and the other car. The Scoupe was smashed and crumpled. I was unconscious on impact and spent the next eight weeks in a coma and six months in the hospital. I had my seat belt on and the best safety feature was the drop suspension. I have a traumatic brain injury and permanent disabilities as a result of this crash. It's been a little over five years and very slowly, I am beginning to piece my life back together.
I also own a Scoupe myself while I have not been in a crash with it, I still find it to be a great LITTLE car! although that could just be because it is my first car I have ever bought and drove for more than a year. I have not had to do anything to it yet, but there was one thing that I found to be very annoying and that is the 3rd brake light in the back window it rattled like mad so if you own a scoupe and have the same problem that I did, do what I did and that is go out and by a spoiler with a brake light on it and install that so you can get rid of the one on the inside.
