"A high performance sports car with a family car heart"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

In the mornings, it revs up by itself to about 4,000 RPMs and then drops below 1,000 RPMs and does that until put into gear. Like the "choke" is not working right.

Also, I get about 13 miles to the gallon lately. I took it in, because these both sound like fuel problems, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

The door holder open thing has been gone since I've had it. It always hits me in the butt. :)

General comments?

I love this car. It is quite the ticket getter, but other than that, it is fast and fun to drive. I liked my Camaro better, but for different reasons. This car is every bit as sporty, but kind of a family car at heart.

Does anyone know if I can get an after-market supercharger?

If anyone has any advice on the fuel problem I am having, email me at: nervous_94@hotmail.com

I also have a 95 special edition GTP and it runs great. But the only problem is that the timing tensioner just went out so it is in the shop right now. I really don't know any place to get after market stuff because I have been looking too. Well if you find anything peace email me at justino2002@aol.com.

I also have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP special edition, but however in the morning it is rough to start it revs to 4000 rpm and then drops to 1000 rpm, but I have not been able to figure out the problem. If anyone has had the same problem and has been able to fix it, It would be very helpful if you could maybe give me and idea of what to look for to fix this problem. my email is jiggy2569@hotmail.com!!! thanks!!!

I have a 1995 GTP and mine idles the same way untill she warms up! I've done some research and everyone I talk to says its the intake gasket. Had it looked at and indeed the intake has a leak at the gasket. THis would explain why it quits doing it after warming up, the alluminum expands and shuts off the leak.

Hope that helps.

I can't find anything aftermarket for my car either.

I have a 95 GTP and do also have that same problem. I found out that it was the gasket and everywhere that I would get and estiment at would try to charge me $375 + just to fix it. I think that that is outrageous so of course I am going to take it to one of my best friends shop and hes going to fix it with a grand price of only parts. So if it is really expensive where ever you live try to find a friend that knows what they are doing and see if they will do it.

Visit www.pfyc.com for all of your Grand Prix, Pontiac needs. They sell various under the hood, exterior & interior parts. Good place to visit. Especially if you would like to upgrade your car.

I have a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and I love it!!! My mom gave it to me when she got her new car. It handles great in the winter! My car has 169,000 miles on it and nothing big has gone wrong yet. This kind of worries me. I found a motor and transmission for it at a junk yard. They want $850 for a motor with 63,000 miles on it and only $250 for a transmission. The car will still lay you back into the seat though. I've found some after market things for it and I just found some headlight covers for it at auto-zone. The only thing I don't like about the car is that the brakes and the headlights are so expensive. The brake pads and rotor warranty just changed at auto zone fyi.

I have a 94 grand prix GTP. My idle was up and down so I changed the intake gasket and works much better, but at idle it putters and chugs. When it is cold you can smell fuel, it's like it's running rich. If you have any idea why this is you can e-mail me at stevedoreen35@hotmail.com Thanks!!

I just bought a '95 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Coupe. It needs a "little" bodywork. I need to find websites so that I can order parts ONLINE (specially body parts and accesories), as I am overseas (US Navy Europe). I already found Autozone, PartsAmerica, AutoPartsFair, AutoEtc1, and PFYC (which carries from the year 1997 forward only :- (... If anyone has more info, drop me a line (smu0628@pop9599.com), please. Thanks.

The Wife and I just got a 95 GTP. We love it, as everyone. I have noticed the cold idle problem, but the big problem we are having is a oil leak. The oil runs down the back side of the motor, and drips off the trans. This thing will dump about a Qt. of oil an hour. So I started on the research, talked to all my friends, and have finally come to the conclusion that the oil is coming out of the top of the block. Down in the middle at the back of the block, on the right hand side of the valley, there is a round plug, that covers where a dist. would go, if it had one. This plug has a o-ring that has blown, but the only way to get the plug out is to remove the head. Looks like I will be having a lot of fun next week.

I 2 have a 95 pontiac grand prix gtp I am also a ase sertified specialist along with autozone specialist PROBLEMS WITH IDLE I can help you with your idle problems. if you hear a wishing sound in you air intake your gaskets are loose, if it revs up to 3000 or 4000 and then drops to about 1000-800 it is the throttle body sensor, and if it still continues to do that or it idle stick moves up and down and up and down while at a stop it is the idle air control valve. egr valves are common to go out but their expensive to replace and that will also help idle run smoother

Performance parts taylor 8.2mm spark plug wires w/bosch platnium 4 plugs, accel performace ignition coils, jet chip, cold air intake, stage 3 torque converter, 180 degree thermostat failsafe with locking heat full passive unlike 160 degree and 193 degree, custom mass air flow sensor
