Windshield wiper arm falls off. Zippers are hard to maintain. but most of all the fact that dealers are selling these cars in the northeast with California emmisions makes it more expensive to maintain. Parts store and repair shops have to special order simple parts like air filters and other emmision devices.
Nice car overall. This is my wifes car and it was great to let the top down and let the wind blow your hair. The vehicle also comes with 4 wheel drive which has been great with New England weather. However the nuisance of the California emissions without suppliers, keeping parts in stock makes a simple tune up an event to schedule to assure all parts are available.
I also own a 1995 Geo Tracker 2 door automatic.
I don't understand what you mean when you say it cost a small fortune to maintain. I've done 2 tune ups on mine and all but the ignition wire I had to order.
And that in itself wasn't bad. Had them the next day.
Purchased all parts at the Auto-zone. A great car!!!
I have a 1995 Geo Tracker LSi 4x4. I have been wanting to buy off roading products, but cannot find a good web site. All I have seen is calmini.com. Anybody have any web sites for me, e-mail me at y2klubbstomp@iloveraving.com
I have a Geo Tracker and find emission parts hard to obtain as well. My closest dealer is in Whitehorse Yukon Territory. I needed it replaced while on a trip thru BC and YT and could not get the parts until ordered in Whitehorse - minor inconvenience. Also agree the zippers are a pain BUT this car has been awesome in our Alaska and Yukon weather. At -60 it starts - without the engine plugged in. The rag top is not the best choice but even so I am toasty as I drive thru snow and wind in the mountains. And I thought I could never love another car like I did my VW bug. Terese in Skagway AK.
I bought my GEO 1995 new. I still have it, and it hasn't been in the shop once. The only maintenace I've done is oil change on a regular bases. I use my Tracker for fishing, hunting, and it pulls a 18ft. tent trailer without any problem. It has started every morning since I've bought it. If I get another car it will be another Tracker.
