"The truck of all trucks"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The only thing that has happened so far is that the heat shield on the exhaust came loose from a broken weld. Problem fixed for free at the dealership.

General comments?

I couldn't be happier with this truck.

Many people complain about the fuel mileage on these trucks. I consistently run around 17mpg. I don't know any Chevy owners who can say that. Everyone I know who owns a Chevy says they feel fortunate to get 15mpg.

Plenty of power for my needs.

No problems with the transmission or transfer case.

Wow that is really great mileage

my brother and I both have 97s

and the consistently get 12 to 13 mpg

and about 16 on highway.

You are lucky to have a truck like that.

I've got a '96 Ram and consistently get 18 mpg on the highway, and the Ram turning radius can't be beat by Chevy either.

I cannot believe your comment about the turning radius. I own a 97 Ram 2500 4x4 and think the turning radius is pathetic! It OK if your in a large area, but try to u-turn on a street, and you will perfect the four point turn. The gas mileage is also terrible on this truck, and the whopping 145 horspower from a 360 cubic inch engine is..well lets just say dodge's need viagra to impress anyone. I would never buy another dodge truck as long as I live, and the hemi inthe new ones isn't that impressive either. Tell me why GMC can produce 300+ horsepower without the Hemi badge?

Two thumbs down for Dodge trucks.

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram Sport short box 4x4. It has taken me from Iowa to the Santa Monica Pier, to Atlanta Georgia, then back up to Iowa. I have never been happier with a truck in my life. I have had both Chevy's (which are inexpensive to work on and a very good performance truck) and Ford's (which although usually need electrical improvements have the best frame and axles of all trucks combined). I have to say that Dodge does cost a little more, but you definitely do get what you pay for.
