"Very sleek, powerfull luxury liner... strong silent type!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Window wipers/washers work... but under their own terms, sometimes they wash the windshield for me automatically, (when I turn left or hit the brights) which is kinda nice really, then when I really need them I have to pull over and wait it out.

The electronic ignition module went out just after I got it, took me forever to figure out that was the problem, when it goes out it just quits, never to start again, had to push it from a 4 lane hi-way, me and all the people I made mad.

Air leveling system quit, had to put normal air shocks on it.

General comments?

Bought car from original owner who still had original sales papers for it, has 121,000 original miles, never wrecked and NO rust. Car is in very good condition. It has the de'Elegance package and the interior is nearly flawless. It needed general tune-up stuff to run good, have to get a new choke still. Car rides like a dream, 80 feels like 30!! A/C still cold, everything works good. More than enough power, and very quiet inside on the road no matter the weather. I love and have always loved these cars,... OPEC loves me back!

I have a 1975 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. I am 17 years old and I love the car. It was my aunt's car when my dad acquired it for work purposes. He drove the car 30 to 40 minutes to and from work everday, but complained about the $200 dollars a month he had to spend on gas. That's the only thing that bothers me about the car, but my friends love it. They nicknamed it the pimp daddy caddy.

My dad had 4 caddys at once, an 85 eldo (bad bad car), a 79 coupe de ville, a 76 Eldo cabrio with a parade boot, and a 75 sedan de ville.

The 85 gave us so many problems: 2 broken trannys, and constant over heating. good riddance. My grandpa owned one and I got to drive around just recently. yikes. the engine made a lot of noise for not much reward in the acceleration or speed dept.

The older 3 were FABULOUS cars, aesthetically pleasing inside and out, and wow, such smooth elegant power.

Right now I'm trying to raise funds to get a 1970 or 76 hearse.

I just picked up a 1975 coupe deville with 2,149 original miles on it. It has the original tires, and sticker on the window. Cherry!! IT WAS STORED IN A CLIMATE CONTROLLED GARAGE UNDER A LAMBSWOOL COVER.. I can't wait to drive it. good luck with yours...

I was a fan of the "big ones," and well remember how sad the 1977 downsizing seemed at the time. With almost 30 years time, and at age 42, I decided that I would treat myself and find a "big" Caddy.

I never thought of myself as a car collector, but if I lived in an area where I could afford to house them, I would have several. I live in the San Francisco area, and I looked at a pair of 1969 Cadillac limos for under $1K, running, a 1972 Eldorado Convertible for $1900 (just missed it,) A '71 Formal Limo for $1,200, and the car I got, a '75 SDV for $1,500.

The 1975 was by far the best of the bunch, with the '71 limo a distant second. All of the cars were running strong with a variety of cosmetic and minor issues.

My 1975 SDV has been repainted once, and the original leather interior is showing some wear, but nothing overly bad. I missed an opportunity to get a 1978 SDV from the same collector who was placing his cars, and I didn't go for it even when I could have gotten it for $500! I wish I had not let my common sense rule!

My '75 is registering 76K miles, and in spite of the cost of fuel I have driven it regularly. The only thing I have done is provide a new battery. Everything in the car works as it should except the cruise control, and the more I drive it, the more the car rewards me with better performance.

While I don't know if the car will hold my interest as a collector piece, as long as it is a reliable driver and gets the attention it does I will enjoy and take care of the car and strive to do the things that will insure it maintains its collector value. Driving a unique car in the San Francisco area is difficult - classic and exotic cars abound, but I have only seen one other '75-76 Cadillac deVille.

Anyone can have a little bit of American history if they just look for it!

Speaking of American history, I want to know more about that 1775 coupe deville! Did George Washington ever ride in it??

What? It's a typo? He meant to say 1975?

Oh, well... forget it then...it's just an old car.

I had the good fortune of being steered to a lady who's husband had bought a 1975 Sedan DeVille when he retired. He drove it till he passed away. After that, his wife took it out occasionally, just for remembrance sake.

The car had 21,000 on it when I bought it, and had a few minor items to correct, such as small dents in the rear quarter panel and a need to fix and recharge the A/C. It still had the original tires and was always garaged.

I love the car and as many have said, the style of a 4 door with no center post makes it a real head turner when all the windows are down and I am cruising around town here in
