Diagnostic test read speed sensor. Replaced the speed sensor and that didn't fix the speedometer.
Not shifting from second to third. Mechanics say the speedo gear is the problem and they will have to take the transmission apart. They tried to get to it through the sensor and it didn't fit. Transmission expert said try removing the axle to get to it and to no avail... Now, I have to have the transmission expert take apart the transmission to get to this plastic gear piece. Very expensive!!
Head gasket needs to be replaced as well...
These cars don't have enough power to pull an average hill without shifting down.
Warranty was up in February and what a fiasco.
I have noticed the passenger seat is too close to the dash and won't go back any further.
There is also a rattle in dash by speaker and the head light switch.
I thought I was getting a good deal. I know it shouldn't be falling apart yet.
I fear that soon this car will cost as much as if I would've bought a foreign made vehicle from the start.
I have a 98 Neon Coupe and I must say that it passed inspection (Virginia), but I was also told that it had a leak in the head gasket. The mechanics told me that it was very common for a neon. Wow, I wish someone would've told me before I bought her.
