"It looks slow... looks"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Not much, she stumbles on acceleration, but a neighbor who has one tells me that's easy to fix.

Too darn quiet.

General comments?

What a car!! I thought I had it good in my '79 Cougar! Oh, baby!

This car doesn't look fast at all, and it's slow off the line, but get her out on the highway and she'll pass just about anything out there. The speedo registers 80, but the needle will go much further down for the leadfoot.

There is so much legroom that I, and I'm pretty tall, can put my feet straight out in front of me without bending my knees.

The 8-track is great!!

It's safe, I mean, it's a freakin' tank. Plus it won't roll over when you turn, like a Stupid Useless Vehicle (SUV).

And the $20 I shell out each month for full coverage really make up for the gas prices!

That stumble is due to the cheap carburator Ford put on those engines in the late 70's.. Ditch it.. Get an Edelbrock performer RPM intake and a smaller-than-650 cfi Holley carburator, and make sure you have the right jets. You probably have 4.11's in the rear, but make sure.. it will opperate best with those gears. I have a '79, and I love it.

I have a '77 T-Bird that I've owned since 1988. I paid $1300 for it and I've been offered four times that amount! The car has always been garaged and has zero rust and is as close to show condition as age and time will allow. The 351W engine will easily do over 130mph on the open road. They just don't make them like this anymore.

I have owned my 77 since 1984!!! (my first car) It has factory buckets and the original 400 / c6 combo have been extensively modified. I have been using it as a show car and in three years earned over thirty best of class awards plus one for best sounding exhaust. It's a pleasure to drive and my family enjoys driving it even more than my 69 mach 1 or our 2000 convertible. Lets keep these cars on the street were they belong!!! any questions on mods and upgrades email me at a_j_buhlerAprodigy.net I'll be happy to help.

I just bought a 77 about a half a year ago for 750 bucks! It has next to no rust and a 400. I have already put a little more into it than I bought it for, and now it is a real solid car. I am thinking of getting a paint job since there is quite a few gravel chips on the front and some door chips on the driver side. The original paint still has great shine even with 30 years and nearly 150,000 miles on the odometer. I am wondering if anyone knows what would be a good carburetor to increase power and not hurt gas mileage much. I heard a holley has the most power, but I also heard from somebody else they are temperamental and to buy an Edelbrock instead. What should I do?
