Twice now, in a year's time, the front brake rotors have warped.
The power window buttons on the driver door failed. The whole component had to be replaced.
The antenna connection failed causing yet another visit to the shop.
This car, even though it has a 4 cylinder engine, is an excellent handling machine. I have had it on some very harsh roads and it sticks to them like super glue. It has great acceleration and passing ability.
An excellent family car if they could work all or most of the bugs out of it.
I have done some traveling with this car and it is great on the open road. It is comfortable and handles great with good milage too.
Correction...The Chevy Malibu 4 cylinder does NOT have "great acceleration and passing ability" This is totally a false statement. I own a V6 and can BARLEY pass 4 cylinder compact cars. I will never own a GM product in my life again.
Actually the 16 valve 4 cyl engine has great high end power.
I hate our malibu, but for a 4 cyl, the motor has done very well and has been the about the only thing that has not broken since mile 0 to mile 120,000. Very good gas mileage. The V6 is smooth at low RPM and provides decent (not great) torque, but the 1999 model had the same HP rating for the 4 cyl and the 6 cyl, small difference in the torque rating. If there was more sound deadening material in the car, the 4 banger would be the way to go. It is very buzzy.
