Check engine light came on for no reason and stayed on. (Manual states may come on for specific reasons - none of which happened) Next day light was off and brought in to dealer. They found no problem and did not register on computer.
I have a white truck and it always seems to have black streaks down both sides where the rear view mirrors are.
I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. Except mine continuously went on and off and I kept taking it to the dealer. Of course nothing was wrong and they let me drive off again only for it to come back on the next day. Extremely frustrating.
Also, there is this strange clunking coming from the front passenger side. Now I've talked to a couple other S10 owners and they say the same. Not happy with all the rattles and squeaks that are coming from my '98... time for a Toyota!
1998 V-6 S-10... Can only change 5 of the 6 spark plugs because the children they use as engineers decided to place one of the plugs right behind the steering column where a socket cannot be placed over the plug for removal. As with all automotive engineers, these children GM uses for engineers really need adult supervision...
So How did you finally replace the spark plug on the S-10 with the V-6. I am having the same frustration, GM did this all the way back to '91 with the S-15 Jimmy and Blazer with the 4.3L, but there was just enough space to get a wrench in to loosen the spark plug.
Thank you.
Ben.
I have just purchased an used 1998 S-10 and I simply love it. It came with the the ZR-2 suspension package and it is simply the best truck I have ever had. I go through a lot of mud each year because of one of my hobbies, hunting. This truck has yet to get stuck and I would highly recommend any one looking into getting a ZR-2!
