Some rubber bits and pieces have been replaced as they have perished during the last 34 years eg. engine mounts, tailshaft donut, tyres, suspension bushes, etc.
The electric fuel pump has been replaced.
This is the second 108 Mercedes Benz I've owned. The other was a 1969 280S with about 300,000 miles on the clock.
I bought this one from an old lady whose husband owned and drove it until his death in 1980. She kept the car in her garage until she sold it to me in April 2001.
I have all the service records and have no reason to doubt the mileage (39,000). The car is in near perfect condition throughout although I have had to replace a number of rubber items that have perished.
On both of these model Mercedes-Benz's that I've owned, the transmission shift from 2nd to 3rd has been much rougher than 1st-2nd or 3rd-4th. I have adjusted the modulator to no good effect. It's not a real problem, just a slight annoyance. The speedo also makes the slightest ticking noise at low speed, 0-30mph. Also not a big problem.
All in all this is a beautiful and immensely robust car. White duco with a red interior. A retro classic!!!
I had that model too. The transmission is suppose to shift like that. It means the clutch disks are still good. No worries.
My Aussie mechanic and his old boss both agreed, no problem with the rough shift. You are very lucky to have this car.
