The alarm system no longer works, and cannot be fixed.
There are no chimes to remind you that you've left your lights on, and that cannot be fixed.
The car was advertised as having a 6 CD changer. It was not included, and is not available.
The User's Manual states that the rear window de-fogger turns off in 15 minutes. That is not true and cannot be fixed.
Hyundai used false advertising to get us to purchase this car.
They are not willing to fix these problems. They just say the options are not available on this car, even though they're listed in the User's Manual.
Now that we've questioned the manufacturer, they say the options we thought we were getting are only available on European models.
I have a 2001 Sonata GLS and have none of the things you mentioned have gone wrong with this awesome car. I think that you must have a lemon because my car has none of those problems. It is the most wonderful car I have ever driven or owned, and I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants a great car for a reasonable price!
Hi... I sell the Hyundai product, so lets get this straight: There is no factory alarm for the Sonata that I know of, the "chime" is on the GLS, but not the base.
The 6 disc changer is an option on the XG300, so maybe the paper put the wrong option on wrong car. Finally, "Hyundai" does very little advertising - most is from dealerships. Blame them for any misunderstandings, not the manufacturer.
PS, what I said applies to 2001 US Sonata's Options may differ in other regions.
Hyundai's are good cars, yours was a defect.
I couldn't be happier with mine. I got a great deal on it because no one knows about these cars - yet. Sorry you got one with a few defects. Must have been the day Northern Korea was threatening their border or something.
I have no idea what the first post was about, Hyundai has done an incredible job at turning around the company. The sonata is an awesome car and I am extremely happy with mine. You can't beat what you get with the sonata for the price.
Just bought Hyundai Sonata GLS 2000. Love it! My last car was a Fiat Cinquecento. Anyway I didn't get a user manual and was wondering where I could get one? have worked out stuff myself, but don't know the up, down, left right arrows on driver door are for! Feel silly asking. Can anyone fill me in!
I have a 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS. I will never buy one or recommend one ever again. Only 2 days after I bought it, two different sensors went out. I had to pay to get them fixed because Hyundai's "awesome" warranty doesn't cover sensors. Next, one month later the wipers quit working. I couldn't find a fuse and the new relay I ordered didn't help either. I now have a wire going from the fuze box to the motor. The owner's manual states the rear defrost goes off automatically after 15 minutes. Unless I forgot how to tell time, I think they're mistaken. The window is always coming off the track whether we roll it down or not. Not to mention the RPM meter only works about half the time. This is my second Hyundai and my second mistake. I will never buy a Hyundai again and I will never recomend one.
I bought a 2000 elantra hyundai (used) it seemed like a great car, but my speedometer quit on me and the mileage isn't working correctly. i do like my car, but I need to know where and how can I get a manual because it did not come with my car. it would also be wonderful to know about how much it might cost me to fix my car.
¡thank-you!
