1998 Chrysler LHS from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 3000 miles AC did not work, window regulator needed to be replaced due to loud squeal and it idles rough. The dealership recalibrated the AC, replaced the window regulator and told me yes, the engine idles rough but there is no TSB on how to fix this problem.

General comments?

This is a new style vehicle. I hope Chrysler comes up with the answer on how to fix the idle problem soon.

I have a 1999 LHS which I assume is the 1998 model referred to.

I have had the following problems:

A speed sensor went when the car had less than 15,000 miles.

The AC condenser had to be replaced a few months ago, at about 29,000 miles.

Last week the gas tank sensor had to be replaced (symptom: amber light came on the needle indicator jumped from E to F, with the sounder going off).

Rear driver's side window regulator and motor had to be replaced, and the emergency light switch had to be replaced because it suddenly wouldn't stay down (it had never been used).

I enjoy driving this car very much, particularly like the inner space of the cabin, back seat leg room, and the trunk is amazing.

Another complaint which is really not about Chrysler, but the Goodyear 17 inch tires that came with the car wore out last summer while away from home on vacation and had to be replaced at 18,000 miles. They weren't easy to find and had to be sent for. Still, I enjoy the car.

I have had to spend many hours in the dealership office getting warranty work done because I have one car and they are located about 15 miles away and they of course don't give loaners for things that are fixable that day.

So, that's it. I love the looks of the car and the way it handles. I would like to know what to expect from the brakes, that is, how many miles. Any similar experiences?
