Replaced all four power window regulators after they failed sequentially.
Replaced the front brakes 3 times so far (approx. every 15,000 miles).
Cruise control was defective.
Dashboard instrument cluster failed.
Factory left rear Firestone tire had tread separation.
Electrical system pulsates when cruising on the highway.
Misc. trim pieces failed.
Long waits and poor customer service from the dealership service center.
Shoddy sub-compact rental/loaner when the Buick was serviced overnight.
The same dealer that sold the car touting the Buick's ability to hold its value offered substantially below wholesale when the owner desired a trade up a few years later.
If you get this car, definitely get the extended warranty because you will need it.
Keep a close eye on front brake wear (12,000-15,000 mile range) because they wear fast.
MPG average was 20-21.
The Gran-Touring package is strongly recommended.
Great family car, comfortable on long trips, accommodates 6 occupants and has high safety ratings.
I also think this is a false entry. My Lesabre has been trouble free the entire 8 years I have owned it. I would strongly recommend this car!
Every car has a lemon. I suspect that the Buick in question was a Lemon.
I have had 3 LeSabre Limiteds and I would recommend this car to anybody.
I now have a 2002 Limited and it runs as good as any car I have ever had.
Handling and gas mileage are as good as it gets. Great car for the money.
I just bought my first Buick La Sabre and I love it. The car in question may have just been a lemon but, I think this person is giving the car a bad rap.
I have also had all 4 power window motors fail. I have also had to replace the air condition controls twice. Currently there is a noise in the front left strut that the dealer cannot seam to figure out to fix. This is my second LeSabre - I won't buy another.
This car reminds me of the saying "nickeled and dimed to death" Although it has had only one breakdown that was serious, the dozens of other chinks have cost me a pretty penny. God bless you people who have had good luck with them... wanna buy mine.
Ronald.
On my 2000 Buick LeSabre, all FOUR of the power window regulators also went out. I have had to replace them all at a cost of over $1300.00. Also, some of the AC Cluster lights are not working either. After reading that several others have had these problems, I don't think mine is an isolated case.
I feel something is defective in these parts and should have been addressed in a recall.
Dittos!
Window regulators should be recalled.
Fuel pump, coils, plug wires... tires went bad at 24,000 mi.
There should be a lemon law on these cars. I've never had so much trouble with a car of this value in my life.
I used to buy Grand Marquis. I will go back after my 100,000 warranty has been used up. It has already paid for itself.
Mark.
Don't give Lesabres such a bad rap! I own a 93 and it has given me no major problems. All cars require some repairs, and complaining about burnt out lights and other minor things is just a waste of time. Lesabres are good cars. I would recommend them to anyone.

I do not feel that a $1300 repair on a 2 year old car is Minor!
I have just been notified that it will cost $500 to repair the driver window cable on my 2000 LeSabre because it is integral with the regulator and motor.
I am seeing a trend in these comments with defective power windows.
We just had the transmission shell out in our 2001 Buick LeSabre Custom and it had 64,000 miles. Of course, it cost us $3000. out of our own pocket. Dealer said it just shouldn't have done that. Good Luck, Barb.
2002 Buick Lesabre with 15,000 miles have had the cruise control go out. Leaking drivers side window and garage door remote wired wrong. Everything under warranty and glad I have extended warranty.
Purchased a program 2000 Buick LeSabre this past February, the warranty was effective until 6 Jun 03, Guess what, just two days ago the rear passenger power window was lowered slightly, and now will not go back up. Had an 86 Electra for 17 yrs and never had a problem with the power the old motors and assemblies were just TOO GOOD!
Have a 2000 LeSabre Custom with 105,000 miles on it, terrific highway car. Was great until about 60 days ago when it started falling apart. Most notably the power window regulators, temp/fan control lights, water leak on drivers side, coolant leak/manifold gasket failure (subject now to nationwide recall) and fourth set of brakes/2nd set of rotors; all in the past two months. Scared to see what happens in the next two. I'll trade out before then, not that brave.
Buick La Saber 2001
Had to replace tie rod ends both side at 44,500 miles. Right side real bad, shimmy in front end thought it was struts, but there are fine. Talked to others at dealership and they commented that they had the same problem with their Buick La Saber of the same year. What kind of product are they using, evidently not good.
