2001 Chevrolet Malibu from North America - Comments

"An insult to the word automobile"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Brake rotors warped.

Head gasket blew once.

Manifold gaskets.

Fuel pump.

Water pump.

Transmission jolted the whole car while down shifting.

Absolutely no personality.

Can't take abuse. Like any Chevy, push it a little and it will overheat and fail.

Engine will not stay timed.

Climate controls have failed at least 3 times.

General comments?

Chevy is what Consumers Reports says it is. The sheet metal on this car is so thin, you could lean on it and dent it. This car was pampered and still couldn't seem to run right.

This is one of the worst performing cars I've ever driven. It's pretty embarrassing for it to die on a stop light next to a Toyota Camry owner with a smirk on his face telling me to have stayed with my 12 year old 250k original mile Toyota Camry.

Ride and handling were OK. Fairly roomy and comfy interior too.

I've had every sensor possible break on the motor, again and again and again. I'd take my first car, (an '88 Camry), any day over this gas burning loser-mobile. It was a car that ran well, drove well, put up with abuse and never failed me. All this only in 5 months of ownership. This is unbelievable. Only reason I bought this car was because they were giving it to me with 0% financing for 5 years. I should have known.

The Chevy Malibu is a great car. Very well made. We love it. No major problems.

This is a fake review. All he did is cut and paste from a Honda Civic review.

My condolences for owning Chevrolet. Did you know that if you rearrange the letters of the word "Chevrolet", that it spells "miserable piece of crap"? Well, not really, but it should. My advice is that no matter how much you lose on it, give it to anyone who will take it. Yeah, they sure do like to overheat, don't they? I owned a '79 Malibu that did the same thing all the time. I liked that car; come to think of it, that may have been the last HALF decent car Chevy built. Maybe if you never drive it, it won't overheat? Like a rock, it stays in one place unless you push it.
