What things have gone wrong with the car?

General comments?

The 2001 Grand Prix GTP is a truly wonderful sedan. After comparing the 2 door and 4 door version of this car I found that the sedan is superior in many ways. The 2 door coupe version of this car has doors that are too heavy and swing out too wide (as do the Trans Am/Camaro doors).

The sedan truly seems to have more overall passenger room, in the rear AND the front. It's close to impossible for any full size adult to get in and out of the backseat of a 2 door Grand Prix. Once your back there it's not so bad. The seat belts are pulled way back to the mounting point in the 2 door version and I found it tugged at my neck during the test drive, even though it's somewhat adjustable.

The 2 door weighs about 50 pounds less than the 4 door so if you're thinking about getting it for performance reasons, rule that out.

The sedan version of this car is great. Very roomy as stated earlier and a classy/modern dash filled with electronic gizmo's (the GTP). The sunroof is huge and seems to be well sealed. The HUD system really is handy at night (displays speed/turn signal/warning lights on the windshield via a projector). Performance from the supercharged 3.8 motor is excellent. This 3400 lb sedan runs 15 second quarter mile times out of the factory.

The Bose audio system is worth the extra 325 dollars if you're a real audiophile, but the stock system is great with plenty of bass.

Gas mileage is excellent on the highway and street, even if you're throttle happy occasionally. The only minus is the completely necessary need for 92+ octane gas (supercharged version).

This is no Pontiac GTO (my weekend cruiser) but is a stealth street machine that is very fast, comfortable and reliable. All age ranges will be happy with this "family sedan" with the exception of the older folks who may find all the gizmo's confusing.

The styling and handling is A+ as well. The MSRP is very appropriate and offers plenty of bang for the buck.

Yes, but the 2 door looks much sportier (in tune with the cars premise) and actually allows easier entry and exit of the front seats because the B-pillar is set farther back.

And if you're looking for speed, every little bit helps, including 50 pounds. Which is the approximate weight of most a/c systems that hot rodders/racers remove from their cars for more speed.

For looks and performance, the coupe is the way to go.
