"If you buy this car, get the extended warranty"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Windshield leaked at 5k.

Transmission had to be rebuilt at 40k.

Transmission lines leaked at 45k miles ($350, not under the extended warranty).

Ignition switch at 70k.

Fuel tails had to be replaced (recall).

Front seat brackets replaced (recall).

Brake boost assist failed (70k).

Master cylinder failed (70k).

Transmission mount broke (75k).

I have had various blown fuses that take out the gauges and A/C controls. The dealership has not been able to identify.

Two days ago the car stalled at an intersection and won't re-start. I think it is the coil pack or computer.

General comments?

This car has been a garage queen since it was new. I was fortunate to buy the extended warranty. Most of the repairs were covered under warranty, but with months of lost time while in the shop.

The car has great looks and performance, but I will definitely buy from a different company. I don't feel like I can trust Daimler/Chrysler again.

The dealerships have generally been less than helpful. Many of these problems they said were normal the first time or two that I had the car to the shop. Only after significant browbeating and repeated visits have they magically "found" several of the problems (leak, ignition, electrical). Each visit costs me several days without transportation and I think they hope I'll just give up.

I have been to approximately six different dealerships and have only had good luck with two.

Boy, I have had my 93 Intrepid for 11 years with no dealer at all, and the car still runs great and looks great.

Some minor wear and tear type problems, but nothing major.

Sure sounds like some people do get lemons.

We have had some bad problems with our 93 Intrepid. My husband was in an accident, which we believe might have been the result of the gas pedal sticking. Worst of all, the car is having a major problem with stalling. We have been to every mechanic and no one has an answer. It just shuts off when driving, doesn't sputter, and the electrical stays on. We don't believe it is poor maintenance, since we are very diligent with keeping up the maintenance since my husband is able to do that stuff himself.
