After 3 years: Tie rod ends need replacement.
Brake pads have been replaced once.
Engine stalls with the air conditioning on in a turn, while using the power steering.
A very comfortable and stable car.
It stands rock hard on its suspension, although my shock-absorbers are starting to wear down from all the racing I do with it.
Acceleration is outstanding. I have left many people in awe of this rear-wheel drive automatic burning rubber!
The air conditioning is also excellent, very cool and no troubles for the past 3 years.
For a double carburetor, 2.4 liter in-line-6, 6 to 6.5 km/l is not bad. I thought this was horrible until I drove my dad's new KIA Optima 4 cylinder engine with only slightly better economy.
The only complaint I have is the lack of Internet sites about this specific model. It has a double carburetor, 2.4 liter in-line-6 engine (RB24-S). I presume a down rated Skyline engine.
Therefore I have this question to anyone who might be reading this. Is there anyone with this same model or Cefiro or the 2.0 liter variant, who knows about websites about modifying these type of cars?
P.s. If anyone would like a photo of this model or it's engine... xkoote@hotmail.com
I think you should add more information about this car, it is a great and wonderful car with a super engine. Please take note that it's not a very commercial car and there are not many cars of this type. Please add how many horse power the car has and in how many seconds does it take do 60 mph.
This car is indeed a rare car to find on the Internet. I owned one (1993 Nissan Laurel Altima GTS-R) from 1993-2002. I sold it when 86000kms was under its belt. It was indeed a strong and sturdy car. The RB24S powerhouse did have good acceleration, and yes, it was a good car to burn rubber.
I also got the problem when the engine stalls with the air conditioning on in a turn, while using the power steering.
This only started to happen in 1999 or so. I believe this engine, RB24S, has horsepower from anywhere between 155HP-165HP.
In Trinidad, where I live, there are many 1993 Laurel Altimas (around 40-50) for such an island. The car came in the 2.4 GTS and 2.4 GTS-R. The GTS came without sunroof and spoiler, while the GTS-R did.
Here, in Trinidad, there are numerous RB20 Cefiro's which came as Roll-On - Roll-Off cars from Japan (Foreign Used). Some of the Cefiro's came with RB20DET power, while most came with the naturally aspirated RB20.
The first Laurel Altima (to my knowledge) was first registered in 1991 (a GTS). The last of the Laurel Altima's were sold in 1993, with mines being among the last.
The Cefiro (Japanese Used) first came to Trinidad in 1993. The last set of these cars were registered in 2001 I believe, but there are RB20 Cefiro's that are in the country unregistered.
I hope this information may help the Nissan Laurel Altima Owners. I did enjoy my Laurel Altima. It was a good car because of its looks and economy.
I am from the Philippines and I own a 1990 Nissan Cefiro with RB24S engine, Autech version. This is the counterpart of the Laurel Altima in our country. Good to know that those who owned this car are satisfied with its performance. My car is going on 13 yrs old with 98000 km on the odometer and it is still in pretty good condition. As a matter of fact, I'm planning to enter the car in a car show next year.
It's true that it is not a very commercial car even in our country. This could be the reason why there aren't modifications readily available for the engine. In fact, in my case, the modifications I have made are custom fabricated like the intake with a K&N cone type filter. Right now, I'm planning to have headers and exhaust custom fabricated.
By the way, there is a club in Thailand for Cefiros. You could visit their website at www.cefiroclub.com. In Japan, their modifications are throwing out the engine and swapping them with the RB20 or RB26DETT from the skyline.
I am from St. Lucia and own a Nissan Laurel 1993-94
This is an exceptional car and I praise the MOST HIGH each day for it. It develops pretty fast and is very steady on the St. Lucian roads (which is very mountainous).
One of the problems I have is that it cuts off when I apply brakes as in an emergency situacions.
I also need information on how to get the parts for this car, this has proved to be very difficult. If anyone can help email me at k_leonce@hotmail.com.
This car is indeed a rare car to find on the Internet. I own one (1989 Nissan Laurel Altima GTS), it's indeed a strong and sturdy car. The RB24S powerhouse did have good acceleration.
This engine, RB24S, has 141 horsepower.
In Trinidad, where I live, there are many 1989-1995 Laurel Altimas, and in Saudi Arabia you can get them for around 1700 US dollars. The car comes in the 2.4 GTS and 2.4 GTS-R. The GTS came without sunroof and spoiler, while the GTS-R did.
The first Laurel Altima (in Saudi Arabia) was first registered in 1989. The last of the Laurel Altima's were sold in 1995, with mine being among the last.
I hope this information may help the Nissan Laurel Altima Owners. I do enjoy my Laurel Altima. It is a good car because of its looks and economy, and I've had mine for 14 years now.
I need information on how to get modification parts for this car (this has proved to be very difficult). If anyone can help, email me at primacorn4@yahoo.com.
If anyone wants to get new spare parts for this Altima, he can get them from Saudi Arabia: there are plenty of them here.
I am from Phillipines and I own a 1990 Nissan Cefiro. I love the way it handles. The car was really stable and fast with it's 2400cc engine.
I'm having difficulty in finding replacement for it's worn parts. Please send me a guide on how I can avail those parts. E-address : jrland12@yahoo.com.
Yo guys,
I own the big brother of the Laurel Altima gts-r.the Nissan Laurel gsx-r 1988. rb24-c that's race breed 2.4 litre carborated. i don't know 141 bhp or not. but yea, more like the r30's skylines. this is found only in the gulf mainly in Dubai. so rare that the rate is 1/100,000 cars coz only a few hundreds were produced. I have a romance wit my ride. its so much like a love story. I own it from 6 months, the doors are pillar-less like the (jgtc) race cars allowing you to have a wider view and weighs only 1100 kgs that's 250 kgs lesser than the lightest OK the skylines. u guys wanna tune yer altimas?? bad newz you gotta get 2 the gulf, 2 mod them or either japan that's thrice costly! I named it projekt rb. my id: stage4turbo_racing@yahoo.com mail me for further car stuff.
I'm a Filipino working here in saudi arabia. I have a Nissan Altima model:GTS-R 1993 and used for almost 7 years. I'm planning to sell it now. I don't really have much problem with this car until recently because of my stupidity, I didn't check the brittle radiator hose and when I travelled 200 or so KM with an outside temp ranging from 45 C, the hose can't take it, waters gone and there goes my engine after it overheats.
That was a month ago. But before that I really doesn't have some major problems with this very reliable and fast car. Saudis love the car so much that they're always asking me if I want to sell it... now they can have it.
I'm from new Zealand and these engines are extremely rare I understand that the engine was made from an rb25 block and pistons and a 2litre crank and con rods with a rb30 single cam head
the first and most effective mod would be the fitting of an rb25 twin-cam head and fuel injection this gives a free revving large torque engine
i plan to build one of these for my skyline and fit a turbo on the side.
I agree I'm thinking about building one, but to take advantage of the free flowing power and revving I'm going to bolt up a supercharger to the motor and keep the motor carberated.
Hi guys! Where in the world can I buy some spare parts for Cefiro A31 (RB24S)? I'm from Poland and this car is extremely exotic here...
Regards
Marcus.
