Required a new starter motor.
Left headlamp bulb burned out.
Air conditioner required a recharge.
Heater control valve cable was kinked; fixed myself.
There's nothing as cool as a '62 Dodge Lancer. The pushbutton-operated automatic transmission is efficient and smart; the 225 is torquey and sounds nice, and the styling is very unique!
I bought a new 62 Lancer in July of 1962. This was a 770,it was a 4-Door and light gray with the most beautiful blue interior. Only problems with the car, was paint would not stick to the door rockers. Have never seen any in any of the Auto shows, they must have all rusted away. After three years the tops of front fenders rusted by the door, and then above the head lights. This was normal for cars of that time. Was a very smooth, well powered car.
I bought a 1962 Dodge Lancer 770 2-door sedan new in 1962.
Previous owned a 1961 770 4-door sedan.
White with red trim, red interior with black carpet. Very sporty looking. I only kept it one year and kept it waxed and had no problems with the paint or rust.
I owned a 1962 Dodge Lancer, bought it new. It was two door, white exterior and red interior. I loved that car, but let it go when the transmission died. Wish I had it now.

Hi I'm french and my grandfather had one (a D. Lancer 770 sedan) and the better is coming... lost because of financial issues, 20 years has passed, my father found it and bought it back (4 years ago now), this little car has only had her back door repainted and the roof inside had been "re-cut" in black, the issue we faced with is an electric one, the "battery" "goes down" too fast... I'll take a look at it when she'll be mine... hey, a student with a '62 cream color car with red and white interior, what a great deal!

I bought a 1962 Lancer GT new. Could not have bought a better car.Didn't have any problems at all. Since that time I have had six of these cars I still have two GT Lancers at this time.
My dad bought a 62 dodge lancer GT when I was five, he gave it to my uncle when I was 11, I'm 20 now and my uncle just gave it back to me, its my daily driver. Its red with red and grey tuck n Role interior. When I get back from deployment in Iraq I'm Putting a 360 in it repainting it and minitubbing the rear end.
I bought a 1962 Dodge Lancer with a three-on-the-tree in 1969 just after getting out of the army. It was my first car, and to this date is the one that I liked the best, despite owning many vehicles since. The only reason I had to get rid of it was because it was T-boned on the passenger side. It handled better than any other car I've owned except an XKE and a Firebird, it got great gas mileage, was comfortable for long drives, and was very reliable. I wish I could afford to get another one now although to be honest if I did I would modernize it somewhat - disc front brakes and such. Generally though I wouldn't change it all that much.
I had a 62 Dodge Lancer in 1975. It had a 3 on the tree. Grey. I loved it, but my GF was embarrassed to be seen in it. I'd like to buy another. ljmattivi (a) comcast.net.
I own a 1962 Dodge Lancer 770 four door. It was my dad's first car and has passed down through the generations. It has been repainted and the engine rebuilt. She runs like a top and I just took it out for the summer. I am always looking for a spare for parts.
I stumbled across a 1962 Dodge Lancer while shopping for a 1960's Ford Falcon. The Lancer is all original, no rust...55k original miles. Bought it on a whim, and I love it! Would love to chat with other Lancer owners. God Bless, Laura (msclarkee @ aol.com) Update 09/13/07 - Anyone have an exhaust manifold that would work for my car? Mine has a crack, and the mechanic says it's just going to get worse with time :( Thanks!
This is a somewhat different kind of post. We had a 62 Valiant, but I'd have loved to have a Lancer. The ultimate car dream for me is a 62 Lancer or Valiant two door fabricated into a nine second quarter car, towed by a 62 Lancer or Valiant wagon. Both cars and the trailer would be painted bright red, and all three would have Goodyear Eagle white letter tires. The wagon would have a crate motor 360, and the racer would have a 528 Hemi.
I love the '62 Lancers also... I own two of them.
See them at www.davezappa.com.
Hey. I have own my 62 GT since 1982, and I love it. There is app. ten left of them running in Sweden. I am going to restore it with some help of my 15 year old daughter ho also loves it, but spare parts is almost impossible to find.
I currently own a 1962 Lancer. I have owned a 61 rambler and a 63 falcon. this is my favorite compact. it runs and handles like a "big" car, but doesn't know it's a small car! I like it so much, I just bought a 60 valiant with 56,000 original one owner miles! I drive the lance daily, sometimes adding between 75 and 150 miles each day. It is always dependable and fun, even on the interstates around Atlanta! I would love to talk to other Lancer owners! klhedrick2002@yahoo.com.
