1993 Ford Ranger XLT from North America - Comments

This 1993 XLT, 4x4, V6, 3.0L, standard cab with fresh tires and a new Pioneer C.D. system looks great. BUT, I haven't had it more than a month and there's been too many repair costs!

First off, the truck overheated when I came back from a little 40 mile trip and back. They had to repair a rare water neck part.

Then, the 4x4 never worked in the first place! They still have to repair the shift motor.

Also, there is no room in the cab!

This car is loaded!

I have had my 1993 Ford Ranger for almost exactly a year now, since that time.. the only repairs needed were the general oil changes, and new wipers.. I am a college student and frequently travel 200 miles between home and school. My truck has not only performed with the highest of quality, but it has now surpassed 160,000 miles, and it still runs better than my mother's 98 Dakota sport on gas mileage and fuel economy. I highly recommend the 93 ford ranger to any buyer, it is a great vehicle for the first time driver, as well as the school commuter.

I have just recently purchased a 93 Ranger. I have not had too many complaints except that right after getting it I had a diagnostics ran on it due to the check engine light being on, this led to the EGR Valve needing replaced, 70 dollars later and an hours worth of work the check engine light remains on even though the engine ran better. Two days later The ABS light decides to come on. So other than the console lighting up like a Christmas tree with problems it drives great.

1994 mazda b4000. 130k miles. Check engine light has been on for 15k miles. EGR Valve replacement didn't help, O2 sensors didn't help. Does anyone know the answer to this problem. Engine sounds like a sewing machine with all the valves rattling. Another symptom, truck starts and immediately dies or idles very roughly.

I had a 2000 Mazda B2500 and I loved the truck until it was totalled in an accident. I had discovered one thing that was kind of a dumb thing. When starting the truck, make sure the drivers door was shut. If not the check engine light would turn on. I had replaced the gas cap thinking the valve pressure was gone, but the door trick worked great. I currently own a 1991 Ford Ranger 3.0L 2x4 and I love the thing. last owner took terrible care, so I had put about 1,000 dollars in to it right after purchase, but now it runs and drives like a champ.

I have a 1993 XLT Ranger Long Bed. The check engine light has been on for over a year and nothing seems to fix it. I got it used and put over 3K into it. It is a 3.0 liter and it guzzles gas like crazy. The body is in great shape, but is it worth keeping if it runs rough and guzzles gas? Cheaper than a new one, but would like more power, better gas mileage and a smoother idle. Any suggestions? Thanks.
