Headliner was hanging when I bought it.
1 burned out headlight bulb.
Battery just died this winter.
I needed a good, reliable used car of significant mass, and I drive a lot of miles every day. I needed also cheap because I wanted to pay cash.
I found this Buick with 134,000 miles behind the wheel at a dealer sale for them to get rid of trade ins. I put 13,000 miles on this car so far and never had had a single problem with it. (I don't consider a burned headlight bulb or old battery a problem!) It runs like a champ and has tons of electrical amenities and features.
All power everything, unbeatable comfort.
Great stereo sound.
Engine rock-solid, transmission shifts perfectly.
3.6 engine is OK, not neck-snapping but adequate power to pull the car.
The only time I was stranded was this recent winter when the battery died after a couple of cold nights with an interior light left on. I was home. Turned out the battery had been going bad anyway. I have a brand new battery in now and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the Buick across the US and back.
I highly recommend this car for anyone who is on a tight budget and needs affordable, safe, reliable, comfortable, and paid for. I love this thing and I'll never let it go even after I get a newer car a couple years from now.
I completely agree. My Park Avenue is the most reliable and comfort fulfilling vehicle I have ever owned. The gas mileage is amazing. I just recently purchased it with 190,000 miles on it, and it still runs like a brand new automobile.
I just bought an 89 Park Avenue with 41,000 original miles on it. I love the way it rides, and the gas mileage is excellent. (27+ mpg). My problem is the air conditioner doesn't work; I had it recharged, but it quit, and at the same time all the lights in the digital a/c control started flashing off and on. They still do and it won't stop.
But it's still a very nice ride! I wouldn't have bought it in July, but now that it's October, I can live without a/c for the rest of the season.
I have owned an 86 since new and liked it so much, so that when I totaled it off I bought the newer style 1992,but I did not like this one as much. I sold it and am now currently buying LeSabre's and Park Ave's in the 86 to 91 years. I have some over 300,000 miles and they run like new. I get an easy 40 MPG with them on the highway. Problems with them are Timing chain in the older ones go at about 100,000 miles and usually bend 2 or so valves when they go. If you notice a lose in (horsepower) or preformance, get your timing chain checked, and when it is replaced you get a change up which includes chain gears, and tighteners, then you should have no more problems. Heater cores get plugged. And only a few other little things. To increase your mileage put in a new Oxygen Sensor!!! Happy buicking.sturgis_north@yahoo.com.
