"A little too expensive for what you get"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had no problems with this vehicle.

The actual weight capacity of the bed / cargo area could be better. I have to monitor the load size as to not bottom out the springs.

General comments?

The 4.3L engine is very powerful at any speed. It has quick acceleration from a dead stop and it will jump from 65 to 85 MPH on the highway if needed.

The size of the passenger area with the third door is ideal for the four of us. My children think that it's fun to sit in the rear seat.

With no passengers, the third door is very handy for putting extra cargo, camping equipment, I can even fit my mountain bike in there.

My 2001 GMC Sonoma SLS has been nothing but problems. The 4x4 has broken 3 times in less than 18 months (30000 Km 20000 miles),it smells of antifreeze any time you use the A/C or heater, it's a pig on gas and has been a under powered from day one.

Yours truly

Mr stuck with a lemon.

I have a 1996 GMC Sonoma with 82,000 miles and have had quite a few problems ove the course of 6 years, premature failure of the radiator (showed rust after the first year) premature upper and lower ball joints and idler arm deterioration with normal driving and no road hazard reasons, premature water pump failure causing major loss of coolant causing vehicle to redline... the list goes on. I will never buy another GM product after this and was sadly disappointed with this Automotive company's product.

I purchased a 2001 GMC Sonoma standard cab 2WD used with 35000 miles on it. It now has 58000 miles. I have had to replace the fuel pump and the alternator, and now the rear main seal on the 4-cylinder engine is leaking. The fuel pump was a one-piece pump, sending unit, and emission control device which cost $650.00. I am not real happy with this vehicle.
