Nothing.
The VH Commodore is the best car I have ever owned, not only does it start first time, every time, it goes fast as well and has never broken down.
Never in the 9 months I have had it, has a single thing needed replacement and it has service papers from every six months since it was new.
I really love this car and so did the guy who sold it to me, you can tell in the body work and the fact that he cried when he sold it to me.
I have gone out and got 15 inch cop alloys for it, which look sweet and cop extractors which make it go a lot faster.
The VH Commodore is a brilliant car and I would recommend it to everyone as it is the last Commodore with chrome before the VK which is all plastic.
The blue 3.3 litre engine in the VH is honestly a piece of GMH (General Motors Holden) art and is brilliantly constructed. I do my own engine work and have found it the best engine to work on as every thing is set out sensibly where you can get to it (unlike many motors such as the Magna).
If I was to have any complaints about this car, it would be that it's too good, as the speeding fines I get cost an arm and a leg.
Settle down man it's a DunnyDoor.
Everyones got one.
DunnyDore? Show some respect. I have a VH and I know how the bloke feels.
Leave the bloke alone, the VH has something about it that's strangely endearing. I had one for 3 years before buying a VL and it was one of the best cars I have ever had.
I myself own a VH it is my second in 6 months sold the first for a grand to buy a VR, but the deal fell through know I am back last on was a Commodore S with a black 202 this one is an SL with a blue 202 witch is where my remark comes in about your blue 202 they got no power compared to the black my black one was stock with 350 holley standard exhaust the blue one is also stock with 350 holley and 2.5" sports exhaust and still has nothing on the black so next time you say the blue has the power try them all first.
Loved my old Bullet!!
Had my VH SLX 4.2 for 17 years!!! Bought it with 35,000 on the clock (ex company car) for $10,500 and sold it with 395,000km for $3,500!!! Don't tell me they don't hold their value. I took my old 8 everywhere and all over oz. It never missed a beat. In that time I did 3 radiators, 4 batteries, 1 heater and a 3 speed auto at 295,000ks and that's it!!! I used to service it myself and tow an almost 2 tonne boat with it every other weekend!!
The last of the big bangers and chrome to boot!!!
Well this is the guy how wrote this thing in the first place and do I have a story for you.
The commodore VH has changed a lot. out the old six in with the 308, cam, roller rockers/lifters, pushrods and that's about it, but its dyno proven 274.1hp at the wheels email me if you don't believe and ill send you a scan of the printout.
I also got a trany with 1.5 histall and a stage 2 shift kit. going back to a 3.08 diff (nothing special).
Its also done a 13.4 second 1/4 but I have no proof of that so take my word for it.
Its come a long way since I first got this thing and its no dunny door anymore. If you think the original six didn't command respect then this new streeter does. and hey I still swear buy that six, its going in an LJ soon.
I am interested in buying a commodore VH and would like to get an idea of what I should pay for a private sale. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am going to look at 6 cylinder wagon with the 4speed manual. How much should I pay for this?
To the person who was saying blue 202 motors are slow you wouldn't have a clue, Blue and Black they are the same motor. Black has more power on the electronic injection version the heads' don't flow any more or less between the both, my blue 202 beats my dads black 202 and the only difference is I have a better manifold. Your blue must have been shot.
I've got a VH commodore that my grandad left me, its in pretty good condition, interior is perfect. Just put in a new radiator and water pump. Its the blue 202 and goes fairly well with the 350 holley and the new exractors. Thinking about getting a new yellaterra head with rockers and a nicer cam. After that it should run even better. Anyone got any advice of how you can beef the 202 up a bit more? Cheers.
OK! I have just put a 2xbbl 2300 - (350 holly) on my VH bur it's all bad news. I have the complete manual from HOLLEY INC. The problem is BLAC SMOKE and a lot of it. No matter what I did nothing seemed to fix the problem. Can anyone who has put a 350 holley on the blue motor help with resolving my pain.
I've currently own a vh sle for 9 months now and it has to be the best car I have owned to date.
Its got the blue 202 varajet carb and all standard running gear bar the exhaust and headers.
It was a govt company car when new fully optioned minus sunroof. blue over silver ext. blue int. this car has been loved for many years as to the concourse condition.
The car has 312000kms on the clock and hope is good for around another 20,000. as it is starting to chew the oil but not smoking yet only on start up. I have just purchased a vp ss for the 5.0 efi conversion as this would be easier then buy parts bit buy bit. injection is perfection. the conversion is $4500 including shortened 9' diff, tailshaft to suit.shift kitted auto and stall converter, auto cooler, dba slotted brakes all round. b&m shifter. and stero, but that's a different story (more $ than the car)
you may ask why not drive the ss? its smashed and it don't have chrome bumpers. I'm 21 it don't take big dollars to have a classy clean looking car for under $6000. mech done buy myself and my dad.
