Bad exhaust leak located near the manifold and just before the second converter.
Choke does not work.
Badly worn seats, especially at the driver side.
Broken fuel line located beneath the Carburetor.
Worn shifter linkage.
This truck is quite powerful as far as climbing goes and the 4x4 works well.
However it is not reliable and I've had a few major porblems with it.
From a mechanics point of vie, I agree with you to an extent. I feel that the majority of the problems with
the '87 B2600 are mainly to do with the fuel system.
Not totally, but a lot, If someone would put a Weber or
similar (aftermarket) carburetor on, it would solve the
majority of break downs, IE; flooding, leaning out, choke problems, etc. However, the next engine series they used
(B2600i) is so much superior, not just the upgrade to
fuel injection, but the engine is a different design.
My father bought a '90 B2600i new, owning a business
(Auto repair) he towed cars with it for about 5 years,
and also drove as a personal vehicle, sold it to an employee
and the guy is still driving it. The only repairs he has preformed are a radiator and a battery and I believe a
computer (The Mitsubishi computers have a problem...)
