1992 Lexus ES300 from North America - Comments

"Looks and feels expensive and new"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

One of the gauge cluster lights is failing, if I tap the dash it comes on.

The red tachometer needle has a small

burnt out section on it.

Several brake lights have burned out.

My brakes are wearing out very quickly.

General comments?

This is a beautiful car, you can hardly

tell it is 10 years old, due to its

styling.

It is very responsive, and handles very

nicely. Most notable is the steering,

very precise.

The engine has good acceleration, and is

very quiet.

A power mode button on the transmission

gives faster acceleration.

This car has serious ice cold AC.

I have an Lexus ES300. The motor is shot!! I have to purchase a new motor if I am going to keep it. My motor has blown head gaskets and I have 166000 miles on it.

My lexus is junk. Don't ever buy a car ten years old.

Lisa, blown headgasket doesn't mean dead engine. Don't let mechanics tell you that.

Lisa,

I have a 1993, ES300. It is still running perfectly, people get surprised when they ride with on how smooth it runs. a gasket means nothing. you can get that fixed. don't let go of such a nice car.

Blown head gaskets= a great deal of exposure to future problems. There are going to be a lot of issues that may seem minor, or issues you are totally unaware of that will later on sneak up to bite you. If you blow your head gaskets (and the car was driven at all after that), you will likely need to replace the motor or at the very least, do an extensive amount of work to fix it.

Stop telling her this is not a big deal, because it very well may be.
