My starter went out at 140000 miles.
Out of all the cars I have owned, this
was my favorite. This car had features
on it, that you don't even see in brand
new luxury cars of today.
The driver information center was my
favorite feature. It told you every
piece of engine data, fuel economy data
and trip computer data. It even said
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening when you
started the car.
The 3.8 liter V6 is one of the finest
engines ever built. It is extremely
reliable, easy to fix yourself, cheap
on repair costs, and it is a serious
accelerator. I don't remember exactly
what I clocked it at, but it did 0-60 in under 10 seconds. It was the best
feeling in the world beating people off
the line in this car, because by its "Grandpa" look no one ever expected it to be so fast.
This car easily seats six, and four people with plenty of room to spair.
It's features for passengers was great.
Every passenger had access to reading
lights, arm-rests and ashtrays complete
with lighters.
I would still be driving this car today
if it hadn't been totaled in an accident. I still look for one similar
to this day. I currently drive a 92
Lexus ES300, but I wish I still had my 98. If you find one in good condition, snatch it up quick.
I agree, my '88 Ninety Eight Regency Brougham has over a quarter million miles on it (279,000+) and still gets 25 mpg city! it rides smooth, accelerates fast, and nothing is broken (except the tape deck)
