Paint chipping shortly after acquiring.
Water leak when running air conditioning, dealer can't fix.
Exhaust manifold broke in three places about 45,000.
Catalytic converter went shortly thereafter.
Having trouble with the transmission, but dealer says they can't find anything at about 53,000.
Both oxygen sensors went about 55,000. Had the transmission checked again and of course they couldn't find anything.
Throttle position sensor replaced about 65,000.
New slave cylinder and master cylinder at about 67,000 after dealer couldn't find anything and extended warranty had expired.
Transmission rebuild, on warranty, when dealer finally got tired of my complaining at about 69,500.
Transmission is still not acting right.
Zippers on windows completely worn out for as long as I can remember.
And right now at about 70,000 give or take it is sitting outside and will not start. (Unknown reason)
The Wrangler is a beautiful vehicle and is fun to drive.
Unfortunately it is cheapest to just look at it and not drive it.
Like many obviously when I got my baby I was fulfilling a dream and it has rapidly turned into a nightmare.
But all in all it is like the old horse. I probably should, but I just can't shoot her.
I agree with you 100%. Your situation sounds just like mine.
Same here, all of what you said, but my mirrors went a lot longer. Until I brought it in at about 54000 Cattalyic converter and O2 sensor had to be changed. (brought it to dealer and either the dealer or an employee swawped my mirors and passenger fog light. for bad ones (no paint). I complained up and down and they said to report it to my insurance. I called police they said same. Now I'm at 92000 and at running temp it acts like its about to die and has once while drivin, but, I Gave total tune up and changed timing coil, but no go. Hey its 10 ys old plus. So if I have to spend a little I guess its OK I do all work myself. So far? I sorry I'm not like most of you out there that take off roading, but its my baby and the 3 times its been off road was to pull others out. (help it won't stay running) just had new plugs, wires, rotor, dist... tune up also belt) again help won't stay running.
I also agree. I love my jeep... just can't bring myself to take it out back and shoot it.
Anyways, mine wasn't a lemon. it has just become sick in it's older age. or as I call it... "Possessed" it works fine, sounds good, and drives well. THEN... its bucking like a wild thing, in gear, out of gear... highway, back roads, or my driveway. but it's completely spontaneous.
No one can figure it out. it seems like it should be something fairly simple. But apparently not. its spent the past year sitting in my yard, or a mechanics lot. it does make a nice yard ornament, but it would be more fun to drive.
