General engine crash in 1995.

Transmission blocked in 1993.

The seats are uncomfortable.

Gear shifting is a very delicate operation, sometimes it takes more than 5 seconds to put the handle in proper position.

Spare parts are cheap and easy to find.

Can be bought for less that 150$.

I love that car...

I still drive my z101. It is relatively good car, excellent for the price. It did not let me down once in 15years and 100.000km. Acceleration is good, max speed acceptable. If you think that seats are uncomfortable, there is a hint, they must also be maintained. Gear shifting problems are due to one part which connects gear shifting rod with gearbox which is consisted of two metal and one rubber parts glued or vulcanized together and this part is to be replaced when loose or broken. Gearbox is prone to block only if dry, when properly oiled will work effortlessly for a long time. Actually, oil in gearbox needs to be changed also. Regarding the soft brake pedal, oil in braking system needs change too. Hi fuel consumption occurs when motor is not tuned in to factory specification, especially carburetor and valves. Rust will occur on body only if car is not protected by that sticky black material, I do not want to name the brand. Exhaust system could be replaced by "Kulich" exhaust system which is made out of stainless steel and reconfigured in 4:2:1. That gives the engine lots more of breath, especially in low revs. Speaking of revs, z101s motor needs to be driven at higher revs, driving it at low revs shortens life span drastically. All in all this is cheap car and you need to maintain it lot more than you would some western vehicle. If you follow the maintenance manual every thing will be just fine, but if you think that this car can be drived like some expensive one (just turn key and go) well you are wrong. Brand new costs 4.000e on the road, what do you expect from a car that costs this much. At the end let me say that this is fun to drive in summer with windows down (all four of them) even at 120km/h. If you try this in my Focus your head will be ripped off by air surge and your ears will buzz for a week.
