Water leakage on floorboard.
My car only has 35,000 miles and I have had an unfortunate experience. Many little things have gone wrong. I do not recommend this car. I also found out it rated poor on the federal crash test.
I too have a Passat with electrical problems and water leaking on the floor when it rains. It's a 97. Do you know of anyone else with similar problems?
I too have had the water on the floorboard problem. So one day I went out and took a hose and poured it around my windshield, etc. Made it to the sunroof and bingo!! There are two drain holes/tubes on either side of the sunroof opening towards the front of the car. I sprayed a little water in them and sure enough water traveled in those tubes and down the A-pillar I believe, and out under the dashboard onto the floor. Might wanna get your sunroof re-seated or sealed. That should help.
I too have a 95 Passat that is leaking. However, the sunroof was not the problem. Now I am stuck with a car that has soaking wet floor boards in the back and no clue what to do next. Anyone have some advice?
Check the plastic liner inside the door panel. It must seal COMPLETELY or it will leak. When It does, water can drip inside the car. The water has a direct path past the door seal. Took me quite awhile to figure this out on my '90 Passat wagon. Seal the edges of the plastic sheet with rtv silicone where the factory adhesive was.
I also have water on the floorboards of my 92 Passat Wagon. It had a 2 inch puddle in the back today. Now I am looking for ways to solve the problem.
3/24/03 I just bought a 1998 Passat and the floor behind the driver's seat has been soaked three times. It's still under dealership warranty, but I want them to know that it wasn't because I left a window open like they have insisted. I will ask them to check the door seals.
I have a 92 Passat that seems to always have unexplained electrical malfunctions in summer. the heat or something is keeping my car from starting properly.
I have a '95 VW Passat VR6 wagon with standard transmission. It has been quite reliable, but recently the fuel pump went out. The dealer charged $369.00 for the part and $270.00 for labor. These prices seem VERY high. Also, tires for this year and model are very expensive. Is this just an expensive car to work on?
I've had two 93's for 7yrs nothing unusual about cost of repairs. After replacing a fuel pump on my 96 GMC suburban 3 times (each time the repair lasted 1 year) I finally took it to a dealer. What took me 45 minutes and $65.00 cost me $500.00 at the dealer. Were the parts they offer outside the dealer inferior parts? They were Delco fuel pumps purchased at Checker. My Passats have been no more costly to maintain than any other used car I've had, with the exception of the many Chevy Chevettes I had for winter beaters.
