Lambda sensor.
Broken air Co.
Faulty temperature reading.
Drinks 1 litre of oil per 5000 km,
and so did my laguna when I bought it brand spanking new.
From a Renault 19 I bought a Renault
laguna in 1994 brand new it was.
But after 8 months I was sick and tired of it. it went almost every 2nd week in for repairs. first all the rubbers of every window and front screen. then brake pads and brake disks in front
after 15 000 km and again after 33 000
km.
But
i got rid of it and bought a RENAULT 25 TX.
It`s out dated, but a beauty to drive around in.
It`s reliable, comfortable and in a certain way sporty.
Besides the lambda sensor I did not
fix the other faults.
I have never had any other problems yet except for an old rusted exhaust which
i replaced with a self made one entirely
made of stainless steel.
I maintain it my self so costs are very
low.
1 litre in 5000 km's for a 12-year old car - and you put it under "Problems"? Come on... 1 in 2500 would still be acceptable.
Amazingly how beloved Renaults in general are from before the Laguna/Megane/Clio era. I like driving my 5 TR more than driving my Lancia Fulvia - and I'm not shocked reading that back.
I agree. I've had newer Renaults, but am currently running a Safrane 2.5 which is superb. Far better than anything Renault (or any other manufacturer for that matter) can muster. The R25 was another superb car and I have very fond motoring memories in my R25.
Own a 25 TX of 1991 which has run 255.00 km to date, and it still doesn't consume a drop of oil. It runs cheap too, with only regular maintenance. A very reliable and comfortable car.

I have 1989 GTX 2.0 engine and there is no oil consumption after 300.000 km.
Can somebody comment Safrane after R25 experience?

Hi Ermin.
I now run a Safrane 2.5 20V Executive Automatic after 10 years in a Renault 25 2.0 GTS. I used to run an R25 web site which gives you an idea of how much I loved the R25 (My mother had a 2.0 TX as well). The R25 was a fantastically reliable and cheap runabout and never let me down (unlike the Laguna I had for a very short time between R25 and Safrane). I was once told that 'if you like the R25, you'll love the Safrane. It's a car that builds on the R25's strengths'. I would agree with this completely. Mine has a bullet proof Volvo engine from the 850/S70 and a wonderfully smooth auto box. The 'bridge of weir' leather interior still smells and looks new. However it does like a drink although I am now converting mine to run on LPG (Gas) which should half the running costs.
Overall, I thought the R25 was wonderful and also think the Safrane is a great car and far better engineered that Renault's newest offerings. Comfortable, smooth, cheap to buy, what more does anybody need?!
The most conformable care I drove until now. It's like sitting in a good sofa with two arm supports. The engine is nice smooth and powerful enough. Like many Renault the build quality is not really good when we are talking about the details. Al kind of mostly small things went wrong, but I was driving a old car. My first R25 made easily 300.000 km and I need to put here out because of the cost of a lot of repairs. The engine would like to run another 100.000 more, but unhappily the rest of the car was in bad shape. I drove her on LPG what even gives a more smooth ride and always clean oil. Now I am driving a new Focus on ethanol, but he can't match the comfort of the good old R25. The space inside is amazing, my friends Mercedes was small compared with the R25. The panoramic window in the back gives a wonderful view. Simply a car you could drive for days and days.
